Thanks for your input, Dakota Evo. So you're saying the BC 280s are pretty much a step down compared to the 272s of HKS/Kel/GSC? I've always thought that 280s are the stage 3 of cams and 272s are the stage 2 and so on? I'm new to the whole cams thing. Didn't even start thinking about cams until I heard some sexy evo with that nice lope.

GSC S2 and Kelford 272 yes a step down. HKS 272 they are a step up from them.

Not that you guys care, but the cams are in. I got brand new GSC beehives, springs, retainers, valve seals, cam seals, and arp headstuds. The cams lope hard and loud, which is exactly what I had expected. I was definitely due on a tune seeing as I was only making 210 hp vs 280 hp now. Unfortunately, I have a bad case of knock after 2 weeks of driving the car. It was counting 36 knocks, so right now I'm getting my balance shafts deleted and hopefully, we can go from there. Thanks to everyone who commented and gave me their inputs. Next up will be a FP JB Black, 450 double pumper, 1650 high z injectors, and whatever else is needed with the install.

Thanks for the update. But, these WHP dont make sense to me. What are the engine mods again? Youve done the basics right? (Walbro, Injectors, open intake?)

The graph shows RPM was limited to 6910 RPM?

36 counts of knock at 280whp... woof

This is one of the issues for BC cams just FYI, they make a lot of "noise" that the knock sensor picks up.

According to my tuner/builder, the reason why it was at 210 hp is that the previous tuner (dont know who) had it de-tuned. Reason unknown. There were no engine mods and I don't have a walbro or injectors. All was stock, besides a injen intake, AMS fmic, injen licp, and a tubular mani.

No kidding? My front balance shaft was moving forward and back so now I'm getting the balance shaft delete. Now, if getting my balance shaft delete wont fix the "noise" then I'll just sell the BC and go to Kelfords/GSC like I had planned. Cuz I had no knocks or anything before i got the valve train done.

Hey, no problem. That explains the WHP numbers. Once you get this sorted out w/the larger injectors, fuel pump & the few other bits needed (assuming youve done the 3 port boost solenoid?), Your EvO should be producing better no.s

After all this time, on the forum, the guys have developed the working recipe of what works !!! (trial & error is long gone on the basic 4G63 power level upgrades)

Please keep us posted on your project

The BC cams got their bad rap from the old Evo8 cam test done by AMS (see the note on #5). This is also where Kelfords became popular and the GSC S2 was probably revised, because they really end up shinning in a DSport Mag test done years later.
