Curt brown engine built?

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of redoing my engine. I spun a bearing on my 2.4 and was thinking about going with curt brown for my built. I’ve searched and searched but I can’t seem to find anything on his engine built. Anybody runs Curt’s built blocks? Any recommendations on who I should go with? BR,MAP,STM,ER? I just want something that won’t break after 4K miles. And my car is not my DD. Just want the communities input from people who have hands on experience. Neither of those shops are where I live by the way.

Thanks for your inputs and help me find the right builder for my engine.

All those you mentioned are reputable but all those you may have to supply a core or purchase an oem block which drives up the price significantly.

I already have a core with forged internals I might need a crank and maybe one rod depending on how bad the damage is.

I'm running one of his built 2.0 engines. However he does not build them. They are built to his specs by a local shop can't remember the name. Anyhoo the engine has been flawless thus far make 450hp and about 3000miles with dyno time and a few track pass's.

My personal choice would be English Racing.

How much power were you making? Spinning a rod bearing at 4k miles sucks, but if you're pushing a lot of power (750-800+) it's just 4 cylinder and things break.

i was making 600 whp and 500 wheel torq dynojet. How ever I believe it was the machine shopes fault becaus they told me they used only one set of bearings🤔. Don’t you have to use multiple to come up with the righ clearances?

ive heard good things about ER but after the built The funds are low and they won’t use any of my parts with 4K miles and their short blocks are almost 6k. Talked to curt seems like a really nice guy. I just can’t seem to find any of his shortblocks online as far as reviews go. Every time I search his name the beautiful port job comes up lol.

The advantage of being a machine shop is you can use standard bearings and polish the crank down to size to get desired clearance.
