Probably $1200ish. Might easier to take it apart and sell the block and crank.

I have a Evo 8 long block with 55k miles. Ill be posting it up for sale once I remove it from the bay. Short block is stock and the head has gsc s2 cams , springs and AEM cam gears.

Shipping will be crazy expensive. Unless you have connections, expect that to be $800-$1000.

Here is what i found for new Evo 8 Short Block, Bare Block and Cylinder head. STM also has Evo 9 if you want to check out for yourself.

Short Block 3,881.41: https://stmtuned.com/products/oem-mi...3-short-blocks
Bare Block 2,169.18 : https://stmtuned.com/products/oem-mi...o-8-4g63-block
Cylinder Head 1,805.70 : https://stmtuned.com/products/oem-mi...-cylinder-head

Is it unreasonable to sell engine with 55k miles close to half the price of new ? Example:

Short Block new is 3,881.41 ask 1,900 ?
Bare Block is 2,169.18 ask 1,000 ?
Cylinder Head new is 1,805.70 ask 900 ?

I knew the Evo 9s were a little more rare than 8s, but damn.

Shipping wouldn't be more than $350 via freight using uship or freightcenter (i've shipped many complete longblocks). $800-$1200 is what it costs to ship a car from coast to coast

I thought mistubishi stopped making/selling new shortblocks?

Usually STM pricing is pretty good . Are you sure the Mitsubishi price you quoted is for a complete shortblock and not just a bare block ?

$2800 is for a complete shortblock from dealer, the dealership I’m talking about
supply’s people like stm who turn around a jack up the price. The price for a bare block is $1750 from the same aforementioned dealership. The dealership I’m talking about is in Florida.

Thanks for sharing the information. I’ll use the 2800 new price to decide my asking price for my short block when I get the chance to remove it.

Now I wonder what comes with a new “complete” short block ? Does it have every single bottom end item to just bolt on the head with gasket and start working? Example, oil pan, oil pickup tube, oil pump, water pump, knock sensor, crank sensor etc...

The shortblock won’t come with the extras you listed like oil pan and gaskets or ant off that other stuff.

I bought my shortblock from STM for $3200 shipped (price matched). STM and my local dealership swear there's only a couple left in the US. This was a bit over a year ago, I think.
Maybe prices have done up since.

I will be selling my Curt Brown 10:1 2L after I get my new 2.15L running. EVO IX, Carrillo rods(expensive ones), JE asymmetric. Has about ~70k total miles and was running when I pulled. Bores look clean so in theory you could just run, but a refresh would be in order. I decided to pull because mivec was clacking, but upon tear down last night I found the timing belt tensioner had died and the grease was everywhere.

Probably gonna sell for $2300 plus shipping.
