4G64 timing help!

so i have 4g64 block with a 4g63 making a 2.4L motor, i have a 4g63 timing belt and evo 8 stock cam gears, where should be the timing placed? and can it be done with stock cam gears or i need adjustable cam gears?

because i remember on my 2.1l setup i didnt need adjustable cam gears i just mark the tooth half way forward and it worked.

If you are using the 1/4" taller 4G64, buy a Gates T256 part number. It it 2 teeth longer.
You can get away with just buying 1 adjustable cam gear. Buy 2 so the tuner can play more

I looked up my old notes. Inlet true zero. Exh 3deg retarded. It will run like that & rev out higher.
It moves the power band to the right losing a bit of early responce.
The 2.1 would have loved to rev with those settings.
Up to you where you want the power band to work.

You should really have both adjustable gears. It makes it super easy to zero in the timing, then you can also adjust both if you want to play with them on the dyno. How to time the adjustable gears is explained in this thread. Since you don't have Mivec you would do this for the exhaust as well as the intake.
