Evo 8 Fp red help

Going to buy a MHI housing fp red just trying to make sure I don't mess this up.

What I know I need:
Evo 8-9 turbo kit
Fp 3.25 intake Pipe
Evo 9 Wastegate
Evo 9 J-Pipe

I know I'm a noob and please link other posts I've searched but I can't find a complete answer.
Car has
S2 Cams
1050cc injectors
ARP Head studs
255 Walbro
Some other mods

Also need 1300cc or bigger with at least 450 pump if you plan on running E85. And a Grimspeed 3 port boost controller.

I hope you have upgraded valve springs, fmic, upper and lower intercooler pipes, O2 housing, and turbo back exhaust too

If not running E85, then your injectors and fuel pump are good. But definitely get an O2 housing, full exhaust, and LICP at minimum with your FMIC. If you have S2 cams, you should have stiffer valve springs to avoid valve float.

You can reuse the stock 8 coolant line & get the FP oil feed line. Go with the FP or Turbosmart IWG and you can also make your own custom intake at http://www.siliconeintakes.com/ and a 4.0" air filter. It should save you some money.

example:

Silicone Reducer, 45° bend - 4.0" to 3.5" - Black
http://www.siliconeintakes.com/bendi...bow-p-900.html

Mandrel Bent Aluminum 45° Bend, 4.0"

The MHI red is my favorite bolt on turbo. It works really well and has proven results. A JB is easy to install with the proper oil line from the filter housing.

I would move into ID1300's and a 450 pump. If E85 is available then save yourself the money and have it tuned once with two maps. Without a rewire that should net you around 470whp .
With a rewired pump ( retain the factory high/low voltage if you can) you can make 500-530whp on ID1300's and it will drive really well. Or if you tuner has a good map for 1650/1700's you can go that route also. I've run my car from stock to where it is now and the stock engine at 500whp on ID1300's was the sweet spot. Great mileage, crisp, fun enough .

Compression/leakdown test as a baseline.
Make sure the timing belt/idler,tensioner is up to spec or replace them

I had boost creep on my 9 but most 8's don't have that issue. Still may not be a bad idea to port the wastegate entry hole slightly.
I would use a slightly preloaded 20-22psi wastegate actuator. Turbosmart has some good options. Most red's on pump gas make about 420-440whp on pump gas around 22-24psi. Leave the high boost for E85. These engines are strong but not indestructible.
Consider going to a colder plug and/or gap them down to .018-.022. Boost leak test. You may also need an omni 4 bar map sensor. Choose a reputable tuner.
These are older links but still are the staple to getting into these cars incase you need to log or make a slight change.

You may need IX turbo coolant lines, so check on that. Looks like you have everything else to get it installed. Then the upgrading begins I'd suggest doing the O2 housing now. It's a ***** to do later.

Its just important to plan ahead and spend the time/money once. Hope it works out for you.

If you rush with these cars you'll pay for it later, i did a lot of research before I did my build. One thing I looked into closely was, what is the ultimate injector size for 93 and e85, in the case of a future flex tune. It seemed the conclusion was ID1300X with the 450 combo. Then I found the best cam setup with this was the S2 with the upgrade springs, the 5041s. I'm at the point in life where I want to do things once and pay the extra, but that's what we are here for, to give advice. You decide your route from there.

It sounds like he just wants to get the car running for now, not worried about making a ton of power, yet. I may be misunderstanding his posts, though.

The 1050 injectors will be fine for pump gas. The Walbro 255 may or may not be. I'd install a walbro 450 with proper hi/Lo voltage rewire.

If it has S2 cams and stock valvesprings, I would replace the valvesprings with GSC 5040's.

You really should have all other supporting mods- full 3" exhaust with test pipe or hi-flow cat, O2 housing, intercooler piping, minimum 3" intercooler, intake (whatever you have can be adapted with a reducer coupler), speed density, and an electronic boost controller like a Grimm speed.

I do have upgraded valve springs tomei O2 and a manual boost exhaust im pretty sure is a 3" with cleaned cats and an intercooler.
So do I just need the intercooler piping and the intake and be ready to go along with the mods I've already listed
also do I need that J-pipe for the evo 9
Thanks

Yes, you need an Evo9 Jpipe. FP sells a complete kit for installing the Evo9 style turbo on the Evo8, just select the appropriate oil line.
