Flywheel Bolts stuck

Im trying to take my engine apart for a rebuild. It looks like the previous owner decided to lock tight tie flywheel bolts. I have a Milwaukee 1/2 and it was able to break 2 free but thats it. Im gonna try heat next but any other options. Ive tried pb blaster and a breaker bar

How good is your impact? Flywheel bolts are supposed to be installed with loctite. Sometimes you just have to let the impact gun hammer on them a bit.

Its a 1/2 Milwaukee cordless, It will keep going but just bounce off but not break it loose.

You have to hold the gun on their tight. Milwaukee has several levels of 1/2" guns. My 18v fuel breaks them off just fine, and I use plenty of loctite on install.

I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago, got a couple of them out with a snapon 1/2 impact but 2 didnt want to budge. Ended up grinding the bolt head off after trying everything.

My electric is just as strong as my Mac pneumatic gun, and I don't have to drag an air hose around with it.

While a compressor in the shop will never be replaced switching over to electric has been pretty game changing. Even with a drop hose reel the freedom of no air hose is amazing. Electric tool tech has become really good. Surprised your Milwaukee 1/2" wont zip them off. They do have a few levels of the 18v variants but the Fuel is something redic like 1400ft/lbs. Also what are you using for a socket? I know it sounds silly but I swear it hits harder with a deep socket as there is more mass. Just be careful bc the flywheel bolt heads are very small so make sure keep you kep your tool straight on or you run the risk of rounding off the head.

Unless of course the impact socket is 10' away, then use what in reach

But yeah impact sockets are generally thicker (more mass) and they dont shatter and flake off chrome which is nice if you dont want pieces of shrapnel in your face. Can't say I dont use them(read lazy) but one of these times...

For most stuff the chromes do fine. But when you're using the gun to really hammer down on some extra tight/extra loctited ****, the impact sockets get more of the impact energy into the bolt and you don't have to worry about them exploding.
