Porting and upgrading head

So I’ve been missing for a few years and neglected the Evo by letting her sit for over 2 years, no start nothing. I just recently pieced it back together and have determined that I need to replace the head gasket. While the head is off I may as well upgrade the head and I am leaning towards Head games. Any good reviews from them and what about turn around time. I plan on going with their 400-700 whp package. Any suggestions on what to tweak or just leave it ax is?

Coincidently while researching I went to Curt Browns website and saw that the business I permanently closed and thought “man another business/shop closed, and he was really good based on his work and results from years ago”...fast forward a few day’s later I read from a fellow evoMer that he passed away, unbelievable. May he Rest In Peace

The head games pocket port R package is what I would go with, and have put on two different engine builds I've done here. It's a solid setup to make the port make full uses of cams like S2's.

That head on a 2.2 with S2 cams made 615whp at only 29psi with a Garrett g30-770.

Thanks for the reply. How is their turn around time ? I think I’m going to build the bottom end too. I have a FP bb black with GSC 280’s..I hit 516whp with a FP JB Red on meth a few years back @ 33psi.

Another place you may want to look at is 4 Piston Racing http://www.4pistonracing.com/ . I've never used them but they come highly recommended by Mike Kojima (Sport Compact Car / MotoIQ.com author and Race Engineer for multiple Time Attack and Formula Drift teams). Has anybody else here used them?

Headgames turn around time is pretty quick depending on how busy they are. Great guys to talk to, have been to there shop and my head is done by them. Give them a call and they will let you know how long it will be be. I would also recommend the pocket r port. That is what I have done.

Really? Similar crack locations? Do you have any links or head build specs for comparison? Maybe they are they super aggressive port taking out too much material.

The guy that suggested 4P has never even used them himself, so idk why you would consider that input.

The 4P heads crack in the exhaust port due to over porting.

I use HeadGames because the customer service is second to none. And the work speaks for itself. I just put a full race head with +1 valves on a car that head a head that was ported by we don't know who. It actually drove better off boost, because the VE improved thanks to properly designed ports.

My apologies, I misread the 4P...i thought that was in reference to a headgames package. That's why I asked about the build specs wondering if it was an overly aggressive port job. I was leaning towards them, and just needed a slight nudge : )

Letsgetthisdone, That's exactly why I asked if somebody on here has ever used them (as I never have). Thanks for providing your lessons learned knowledge for the rest of the community! Much appreciated.

BTW, I've learned a ton from your posts, so personally thank you for sharing so much.
