Evo 8 Oil Pressure

just installed a X-series oil pressure gauge in the location where the factory oil pressure switch/light on the block. cold start oil pressure is around 80/85 psi when fully warmed up oil pressure is around 15/20 psi at idle. Now when im on the free way doing 80/90 MPH hear in Utah speed limit is 80 (-; so around that speed RPM is about 4k and im at 60/65 psi of oil pressure I know it not super low oil pressure but when other ppl are doing the same speed and are around 80/90 psi of oil pressure what you guys think?

That's where minę is. Remember oil pressure will be higher for those that deleted their balance shaft. Oil weight may also play a factor.

Im running 3qt of 0w-30 mixed with 2qt of 0w-40. Cold start = 90-95psi. Hot: Idle = 13-15psi, cruising at 2.5k rpm = 55-60psi, 7k rpm = 95psi +

This is very true! lol I still have balance shaft and what not. But I like to see what other Evo guys have for oil pressure when still having balance shaft. I have seen other 4g's have higher oil pressure even having the balance shafts.

If you aren’t running an oil cooler, I highly reccomend you install one. My oil pressure was 20psi idle fully hot on a built engine down in south Florida, once break in was done I put a Setrab oil cooler on and my oil pressure never drops below 25psi after running the gears. Cruising on highway at 80mph it’s 80psi.

Oil coolers save motors

Where the sensor is placed and oil weight is important. You'll see lower oil pressure in the port at the back of the block vs the oil filter housing due to all of the mains and rod journals having been fed with oil at the point. This has nothing to do with an oil cooler.

You have plenty oil pressure, nothing to worry about.

With 10w40 and sensor reference off the oil filter housing, i'm seeing hot idle ~20 psi if oil temps are 160-200.
Freeway cruise around 80psi.
