Evo 4 crank no start

Hey guys. I've got an Evo 4 that recently started giving a crank no start issue. However, if you keep cranking it will eventually start. Switched out and number of parts (maf, ignition switch, relays, cam sensor...) admittedly some of which were not new parts. Changed the fuel pump but still having the same issue(new). I am by no means a mechanic but I just want to know if this sounds familiar and any possible remedies. Lastly, when we do get it to start via continuous crank there seems to be a short in the harness which is very difficult to replicate. Pls help

Fuel filter? Clogged injectors? Spark plugs? Spark plug wires? Coils? It could be any number of things. Harness issues can be a matter of wiggling things until you find the fault - if it doesn't help, just buy a replacement harness if you have a good reason to suspect it.

Yea the wiggle is how we realized in the first place. Pulled and inspected the plugs and checked that fuel was at least getting to the filter. Got the car to the mechanic today and we will go through all what you mentioned plus. Assumed harness work was tedious but will look into it. Thanks

First of all you have to determine if you have fuel ,spark, and ignition. If you pull the back seat up and and turn the ignition on you should hear the fuel pump priming. Check that first. If all works check if you have a spark .

The fuel pump was the first thing we checked. Got sound intermittently so we changed out to a new fuel pump but still had the same issue. Also changed the ignition switch and same issue. Gonna verify spark tomorrow morning. The car started every day this week and stopped starting again yesterday.

Have you tested the relay for the fuel pump?

If its wonky bridge it to see if you get a constant. Or your doing is just energizing the coil in the relay

Hey bro. Got the car back last night. Through a bunch of trial and error we realized The issue seemed to have been a combination of faulty ECU and cam sensor. Apparently the car would not rev past 5500 which I didnt know as I drove it very gingerly when I did get it to start. So we replaced both and so far it's been starting without any issues. Will watch it over the next few days and see if anything changes. Thanks for your help, will post a follow up in a couple of days.

Update

So just an update. Almost a week later, still starts up every time. The idle is rough on cold starts but 2-3 minutes in its smooth. Will see how we can iron out that idling issue but otherwise the car runs great.
