Map 2.0 block

Hi all,

I baught a 2.0 map proformance stage 2 built block running a fp red but I was never told what oil to use after the break in by map, they say use what ever oil type I like 😬 as I don't have access to there engine builders I can not ask who built my engine instead the sales guy told me too use any good oil after the break in.

Block includes :
9:1 ration wisco HD pistons
Mainley I beam rods
King brarings
Oem crank
Gsc race balancer shaft

Head includes :
S2 cams
Gsc Valve springs

Should I use amsoil 10w40 or 20w50?? Who else has a map engine and what oil do you use?

Thanks

map should be able to tell you what viscosity they recommend.

For my forged build I use a high zinc 15w50 for track or for road jn summer but not in winter, I used 10w40 for general road in winter. Warm up the motor if using 15w50. This is what my tuner recommended.

Guy buys engine from MAP. MAP doesnt know what oil to run. Guy puts in oil. Engine blows up. MAP says the wrong oil was used - warranty denied....

Seriously, find out what bearing clearances they set it up to so you know what oil to run. If they cant tell you, ship that thing back.

Finish with your 30W break in and dump after 500 miles. Fill with full syn 10W-30 factory fill after that.

You should be bothering them until they give you an actual answer. They built the engine, they're the only people with enough information to give you a correct answer.

Did you spend thousands of dollars on a built engine with them for them to just say, "uhm, run whatever you want"? That's literally them not standing behind their own product and if I were you I'd be furious with them.

I'll just be saving this thread in my file of "why you don't by engines from MAP".

Next to the ones where the compression rings were upside down.
