Built Evo 2.0 Oil pressure?
Built Evo 2.0 Oil pressure?
Hello Guys.
I am a bit concerned about my oil pressure so thought of posting here.
My setup is a 2.0 Built motor.
Whalen speed built block.
I Beam rod، Acl bearings, Etc etc.
Ma Performance Head.
Gsc valves, retainers etc.
Kiggly HLA.
Gsc S3 Cams.
Pte 6766.
I'm based in south eastern side and the weather here nowadays is very hot.
Temperature is around 42°C (107 F) these days.
I built my car in the winters when the weather was way cooler and cold like around 6°c to 18°c.
The thing is during the winters when my car was fully warmed up the oil pressure was around 1.6 - 1.8 bar at idle and around 5.9 6.5 bar on a cold start.
I drove it after a while today and for the very first time in such hot weather what i noticed on my defi oil pressure gauge was that when the car was fully warmed up after a 20-30 min drive my oil pressure was around 1.2 - 1.5 bar so i'm a bit concerned that is thing something to worry about?
On the first cold startup it is still around 5.9-6.5 bar.
Experts your opinions are welcome.
Thankyou.

What weight oil are you running and what what is your idle RPM?
My car idles at 1100rpm, English Racing oil pump gear, and true hot oil (180*F or higher) with 15w50 oil I have 19-21psi of oil pressure.
The fact your cold start pressure hasn't changed is a good sign.

I see similar things on my built 2.0 and have for multiple years. I run Rotella 5w-40 and when its warm out with hot oil, I see 14-20psi (1-1.4 bar) of oil pressure at about a 1k rpm idle but on cold starts I see 80psi(5.5 bar).
Have had the oil analyzed and see no metals or anything and it has stayed consistent for about 15k miles.
I don't see an issue with what you are seeing but I would obviously keep an eye on it and look at some oil analysis on the next change for piece of mind.
