pte 6466 vs 6870

Just wanted to see if there’s any updated comparisons or input people can give. All the previous information is kind of indirect and not much out there.

Curious how the difference in lag and spook characteristics are primarily?

Currently have a gen 2 6466 1.00 t4 divided, but looking for a little more. The car is only a street car though, and hesitant to switch.

Any input from anyone who has owned both, or 6870 is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Change the housing to 1.32 divided. The 1.0 is way to small. Or go to a 6870 with a 1.15.

If you don't need the 64mm inducer to stay class legal, just go to the 6870. But make sure to get a 1.15 or 1.32 housing. The 1.0 is too small.

Yep also agree to get the largest housing 1.32. This will free up HP and you'll lose minimal spool.

Any general idea on the gain of going from 1.00 to 1.32? I have no clue what the backpressure was like on tune, but at 47-48psi the turbo was definitely out of steam. Car made 748whp/590wtq on a RRT's mustang dyno

1.15 up to a 1.32 is ~30hp at 850whp.

The 1.0 divided is too small. It's like running a .6ar open housing.

Very later reply, but thank you. The car also has Buschur 272 cams so I was thinking about going to S3s as well.

So going from a 1.00 to 1.32, plus from the Buschur 272s to S3 will definitely move the powerband right a bit. I’m assuming with both changes I should be able to make around or slightly over 800, but do you think the powerband will shift to right a lot from these changes?

Kind of contemplating 2 options currently
1) 6466 with 1.32 t4 divided and GSC S3s
or
2) 6870 with 1.15 t4 divided and keep Buschur 272s

Really just looking for a little more but keep the responsiveness of the car.

You got the room for the 6870 and S3

I'm on a 6466 TS 1.15 ar, s3 cams and 2.2l and put down close to 800/650tq @ 42psi.

Haha definitely would make a lot of power. I’m willing to sacrifice a little bit of responsiveness for a little more gain. Definitely want to keep the responsiveness of the car though cause the car lights up instantly currently which I love. And also only revving the car to 8500 cause the current valve springs aren’t enough, so think the 6870 might be a bit too laggy for that idk

I’m wrapping up a full build on my car and ended up switching turbos after it was complete 😂. The car had an FP Black and I ordered an ETS 6870 in a T4 TS 1.15 A/R. It was between the 6466/6870. A day later I rode in a 900+WHP Evo X with a 6870 and my mind made was made right then and there 😂.
