I would check the block surface with feeler gauges and a machinist flat edge next time the head is off, I forgot to mention that I did that after my gasket kicked as well.

The other thing you could look at is tuning? Idk who you have tuning the car but if there is detonation, it can lift the head easy.
aslong as a cylinder head is still within service limit we should have no issues running an OEM sized gasket, right?

I believe so, mine is close to the service limit with 10.5:1 pistons and I am running the OEM gasket. The biggest issue with the OEM gasket will be if you are bored way over, I forget the max piston diameter for the stock gasket.

RRT should be able to get you right. The fire ring is probably overkill but they will know better than me lol.

Its been good. I have mine setup flexfuel so on 91 I just run gate pressure (~18psi) with minimal timing as a "get around" tune and then on E85 I have it turned up to ~37psi with a decent amount of timing.
I have had it together in this state for like 6 years I think and 15-20k miles I think?

I only went high compression because I looked over some dyno charts and talked myself into a Red with high compression would still spool like a Green. I think helps spool but its really hard to say if it was 100% worth it or not considering its just a street car. But I haven't had any issues from the high compression.

I know that’s a super responsive setup!

It certainly is lol. I never planned to build the motor, the end goal with the car was 500whp/400wftlbs on a Green and the stock block but a timing tensioner had other plans and I caught a case of the "while I'm in here" and this is how it ended up.
Can't say I'm sad about it but my wallet was lol.
