Yaah, the problem with higher octane is its addictive and expensive. But , its what I've been saying all along. Evos love higher octane. If I had my choice I'd run 100 octane constantly too.

Check out some of the water injection forums. The dsm guys have been doing it for a while and it can be done with about 250.00 in parts. Aquamist is nice but very pricey which is what I see when I looking at the works kit on their site. Their kit is just an iteration of the aquamist kit.

Could be interesting. The site does not have that much specific information about the contents? You might want to make sure that there is no MMT in it before buying or using.

I was walking around at the auto part store one day and came across a 104+ octane booster. At first I thought, hey, this will boost my 93 octane to 104. After carefully reading the label, I realized that it's just the name and it does not increace the octane to 104.

I then found another additive call 0-60 octane booster and it can increase octane up to 10 points. My initial thought is... WOW!! I don't need to buy the 103 octane unleaded at $4.999/gallon down the street but just buy this bottle and bump my 93 octane up to 103 octane. After some futher reading, the label said 10 points is equivalent to 1 octane rating.

I then wonder, to get UP TO 10 points, what is the ratio of mixing? As far as I know, to get 10 points (1 octane) I might have to mix 1 gallon:1 bottle ratio, if that's the case then a 10 gallon tank will only yield me .1 octane increase. It would be nice to know how they're coming up with the numbers ie... if you mix this bottle with XX gallons of fuel you will increase your octane rating by XX much. Anyway... I went to their website and looked at their FAQ: http://www.prestone.com/tips/page7.htm It explains the number a little more BUT does not talk about mixing ratio. Are they getting these numbers as per the recommended mixing ratio or by some other ratio.

As far as I'm concern.... it's a hype to get people to spend $5/bottle or I've seen a bottle that costs as much as $13.99. WOW!!

I then went to the 104+ website: http://www.goldeagle.com/104plus/faqs_104plus.asp and look at some answers to their FAQ. All these expensive bottles seem to have something in common: They all are expensive and all have fancy labels.

IMHO: If your car fuel system is all gunked up perhaps these additives will help. They claim improvement, I guess if you can get a .000005 second acceleration or a .000001 HP improvement, it's still an improvement. I'd like to read some independent tests of these products.

I believe it does have mmt or something similiar in it. It also has a high conent of benzyne. I talked to guys that have used the additive for over 10k miles without problems.

I tried Xylene with good results, but I now just take a couple 5-gal jugs upto a race shop, get them to fill them up with 104, and I run 2-3 gal per tank of that in there to up my octane. Works well, and if I really want a nice jolt, I just fill it up while I'm there...

I read that too and called the dealer. It was a misprint in the 03 models manual. He even checked in the an 04's manual and 93 octane is what it should be instead of 98. Just thought I would point that out.

I called Mitsubishi back in "03" when I got my car ant was told by them that the 98 in the manual is the research number. I verified with my 76 distributor and the 100 they sell is also research nunber. 98 would be about 93 r+m/2). Vishnu has tested the Evo and determined this to be the case as well.

I run the 100 unleaded and it works noticably better.

I'm a fan of torco too. easier than xylene or toluene. Torco is the only octane booster that I've seen someone test the octane of. Check out my post from the past.
