HKS 272 cams, Idle AFR
Adjustable cam gears really help the idle a lot. I tried the gears at 0/0 and it was a steady idle but very lopy. After setting them at -1/-4 it was much better. Mine is with a Dynoflash also.
hmmm maybe the dynoflash helps result in a stead idle at 0/0. I am on stock gears with no managment except SAFCII which is zero'd out and i have a very sparatic up and down idle along with the loping.
This question is going to be very hard to explain but I will try my best.... I have 272's with 16% on my afc at 1000RPM... My question is the car seems to have a "meaner" idel mean meaning good of an alternating rumble... Then it goes back to the on off on off sound.. Best way to explain it is to tap a drum with 1 hand the sound that sounds best to me would be an alternating drum roll... Does this sound crazy? What causes the alternating idle and why does it switch from one to ther other? I assume it is hunting for the correct AFR. The alternating idel sounds to me more like a camed V8 as where the other on/off idle sounds odd.. Is that just the way it is? All the camed evos I have heard sound this way.

That is a good description. It's like dut dut dut dut .....dtdtdtdtdtdt
I would also like to know why it switches between the two. It sounds like that on my friends MR2 with stand-alone and HKS 264's also.
