Hallman MBC install

Im going to be installing this MBC here next week. My question is does the boost line with the pill in it get replaced, or do you reuse this line.

I took the pill out afew days ago to see what the difference is, and Im just wondering if I need to replace it, or does it just get replaced anyways?

Thanks

The way I did my install, all the plumbing related to the stock wastegate solenoid is ripped out. My Hallman is fed from the boost tap at the compressor outlet and feeds the wastegate directly.

2 Lines
1st: Goes boost line (intake manifold/bov) to MBC(reuse the T from wategate to compressor)
2nd: Goes from wastegate to MBC
Cap the nipple off on the compressor
You can remove the stock solenoid and all it's lines

yeah remove the solenoid like this guy said and get you a big fat CEL. I would also hook up the Boost controller using the compressor housing and the wastegate, not the BOV.

Yeah, actually I've got my solenoid hanging loose but still plugged in since it was easier than rigging a 33ohm resistor to kill the CEL.

In the past I've seen this subject generate a bit of controversy. There are two differing schools of thought as to whether you should hook up the feed to the MBC using the line leading to the BPV or the compressor outlet nipple. Here's my take on the situation: the nipple on the compressor outlet will only produce a pressurized state, and not a vacuum and pressure like the line feeding the BPV. Does this make a rat's *** of difference in terms of the operation of the boost controller? Probably not, however my perception is that the boost is more accurately controlled with less lag and spiking when it is fed from a source closest to the compressor.

If you look at the hose diagram below you'll see where the solenoid valve is located. It's sole job is to bleed off pressure when the ECU thinks the boost is high enough. The MBC replaces the the wastegate solenoid for this function.

If I were installing the MBC I would disconnect the hose at the turbocharger, the hose at the wastegate and the hose plugged into the intake. You should cap off the host nipple on the intake. Although probably not an issue, this will prevent unmetered air from entering the system which could cause a slight lean condition. Plug the feed of the MBC into the turbocharge nipple and the outlet of the MBC into the wastegate nipple. The hoses provided with the MBC may work depending on where you are installing the controller.

Ok,
As for the CEL, I would have no idea, because I'm running a test pipe also. So, I get a constant CEL.

As for the hookup. Cap the nipple on the compressor. Use the wastegate for boost control, and use the intake manifold line (it runs to the BOV) and the wastegate nipple. If your curious where I got this idea that you should use the wastegate, check page 151 of Maximum Boost by Corky Bell, or, just open the Hallman directions.

Uh, not trying to hate or anything but what other choice does he have but to use the wastegate? Ultimately the wastegate is the mechanism controlling the boost coming out of the turbo (aside from the volume of exhaust gas coming out of the engine). I think the arguement is whether to tap the boost signal for the MBC at the BPV or the compressor outlet.

I was saying to cap the compressor outlet.
