Exclamation My clutch's acting funny! Stiff shifting into gear!

Okay, I was trying to do a four-wheel burnout in the parking lot at work (lunch break), but failed miserably. Instead, I ended up riding the clutch at 5500 rpms. Anyway, now my clutch feels weird. After work, I drove to my friend's house and had a couple of my friends drive my car around the block. Both of my friends said that my clutch's actually much smoother now than before (I have the Exedy Hyper Single)! Which is true! When I was driving home I noticed that my clutch disengages and engages a lot smoother than before. It became easier to drive. I wish the clutch felt like this when I had it first installed! Also, shifting into gear became stiffer for some reason. My friend mentioned something about breaking the throttle bearing, but he wasn't sure. I'm not even sure if there's anything wrong. My car just feels very different. I've the urge to take my car in for a look, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had this happen to them too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

take it home and pull the rubber boot around the clutch fork out, get a light and look in there, see if you see alot of clutch material or strings of fiber, i doubt you can but see if you can see the throw out bearing, just look for obvious damage, then go from there.

also note as clutches wear the engagment point of the clutch pedal becomes higher and higher. is the pedal position still the same when the clutch engages?

Correction! THROWOUT BEARING CLIP was what my friend mentioned. Not throttle bearing.

As far as engagement point of the clutch pedal, I'm not sure. I'll be driving it again tomorrow anyway so we'll see, but thanks for the tip.

Another observation. Before all of this happened, you could feel the clutch 'grabbing' when you're letting off the clutch. Now it hardly does that.

So should I take it in for a look? Anything worth losing sleep over?

is this true??? my clutch doesnt engage until bout 2 inches before the pedal is depressed.
i was told its because of the hydrolock type clutch.

when a clutch is glaced, it becomes less grabby. I think the clutch has very grabby fiction material and is not meant for the slipping style driving. Did you ride the clutch when you launch?

My clutch always felt smoother and the car bogged less off the line right before it was toast.

Okay, so my clutch's glazed. Time to get a new clutch, but can anyone explain to me why shifting into gear's so stiff? It's harder to shift into gear now, even after a five minute warm-up.

If the clutch is not fully disengaging (Due to throwout bearing damage), it makes it more difficult to get into gear.. Another possibility is you somehow deformed the selector fork that does the left right selection and now it doesn't slip directly into gear. Is it easier in some gears, and not in others?

Yes, it's easier to get into some gears than others, notably first and reverse. So, how would someone in my situation handle this? Besides getting a new clutch.

pull your airbox out and look at the shift rods on the transmission, we had a fast and furious v6 eclipse come in the shop, where some kid managed to brake his shift rods. also the throw out bearing it very very suspect, the evo has a pull type throw out bearing. theres known for failure.
