Almost Done

After a 6 month project my Evo is finally in the final stages of tuning. It will be put on a dyno early next week. It should be a monster. Listed below are some of the mods:

TODA stroker kit*
*I used Pauter rods since the TODA rods don't look too good, pistons are awesome
HKS 3240 turbo kit
BJs Intake Manifold
Autronic standalone
Aquamist water injection (custom set up)
Buschur FMIC
Buschur upper I/C pipe kit
Buschur mini battery kit
PWR Aluminum Radiator
FRH Stage 3 Head (Automotosports)
Supra fuel pump
1000cc injectors
RMR 3" Exhaust
High Flow racing cats
RMR Intercooler hard pipe kit
Exedy Twin Disk clutch
HKS 272 cams
HKS cam gears
JIC FLT-A2 coilovers
HRE 843r's 19" gunmetal
...and more

Should be a wild ride. I'll post a dyno chart next week.

how come you dont try using primary and secondary injectors. This will help alot with driveability. I have seen a car that has LOTS of power with 1000cc injectors and this person has a ***** of time starting his car. I know pruven performance has a manifold that custome made that has a primary and secondary fuel rail.

The Autronic has no problem controlling the injectors. I've driven the car a couple of times running only 14 lbs of boost and the drivability is excellent. And believe it or not, spool up feels better than stock.

Nice build up. Nice choice of parts too, I thought the same thing when I looked at the TODA rods. Since you have a larger stroker engine, stage 3 head, larger turbo and larger piping/intercooler with all supporting fuel mods, I have to ask why you went cheap on the cams. I would love to see this setup with some aggressive piper cams and larger ferria valves.

Which turbo does that kit use and did you consider any other stroker kits?? I guess I was curious why you chose that one and used different connecting rods.

I do have Ferrea 1mm oversized valves. The HKS 272 cams were about all that was available last year when I put them in the car. I've been happy with them but if I had to do it again I'd probably go with Piper cams. I don't recommend the TODA stroker kit. The pistons are awesome but the rods are weak which is why I went with Pauter. For the money that TODA charges for this kit you'd think that it would come with some decent rods. The Pauter rods are really high quality. If I was to purchase a stroker kit today I'd probably have someone like Boost-Solutions make me a custom kit. I started buying parts for this project about 7 months ago so options were limited compared to today. I'd like to upgrade my transmission and differentials but unless I'm mistaken there aren't any viable options at this time.

personally I'm a fan of smaller valves.....but that's just me. As to the why he went cheap on the cams, I don't think you went cheap on the cams. I was about to do tomei 270 procams for my car but decided to do HKS instead because HKS has been proven in the 4g63 longer than all these other companies. I'm not saying companies like Piper, Tomei, Jun etc don't make good cams, I'm saying theres a reason over all these years through dsms and 4g63 rehashes that most tuners and enthusiasts choose hks. So I think it's a good choice....also, since the lift is fitted for the stock valvetrain, it'll be easier on your valves too. Overall, I think it's a win win situation. Good choice on the stroker kit and please keep us informed of your progress. =)

I agree from what I have seen boost-solutions looks awesome. I am very interested to hear from you how the tranny holds up under all that power. Also what type of turbo is in that kit and what do you expect ballpark figures. thanks

The turbo is an HKS 3240.

As far as a ballpark WHP figure, I really have no idea. I live in Colorado so I have to deal with altitude and 91 octane. I'll have a map for 91 oct, 91 oct with water injections, and racing fuel. I should have dyno charts sometime early next week which I will post. We're using a 4-wheel dyno located in Parker, CO.

It's being dynoed at MAC Auto in Parker, CO. A company called KleemannUSA based out of Colorado Springs did all of the work for me. They are a Mercedes tuner that does some wild stuff. I have a G55 Mercedes that they built for me that puts down over 500 WHP. Car and Driver did an article on my truck that appeared in the Aug '03 addition, I've had several mods done since the article. The truck weighs over 5000 LBS and did 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and ran the qtr mile in 13.9 seconds at 101mph. Not bad for a tank. The EVO was a side project for them when they had time which is why this project took so long. Kleemann was at the Car and Driver shootout that Vishnu attended. They had a modified SL55 with them (650 hp) that posted some serious numbers. These guys really know what they're doing.

The stroker kit is 2.3l.

Kleemann holds the world's record for fastest sedan (E55) and fastest truck (ML55). My G55 has more mods than their world record ML55 but I'm alot heavier.
