I have one, and it's okay. You really don't see much if any gain from it. In my opinion it looks nicer than the stock plastic stuff and If you like to hear the wooosh sound then it's a plus!
There are other things that you can spend your money on first if you are looking for performance gains.

I have one. The fitment isn't great and takes some muscling and some fiddling to get it to fit well. Watch out for the heatshield's placement; mine was digging into one of the wires on my MAF causing fuel cut and a horrible shock. I've heard of a few other people who had similar problems.

It will cause a bit of stalling if you're in stop-and-go traffic and you give it a little gas and don't fully engage the clutch to move up (If your ECU is stock). When I had my ECU reflashed at TurboTrix, Mark threw some timing at idle and it completely cured my stalling problem.

I have not had any stalling issues with it. I can see how you could run in to some fitment issues like mentioned above, but I didn't have any. I am running the BOV from a 1G DSM.

Hasn't AEM re-designed the intake since it initially came out?

No stall/fitment issues here.
Spool up feels a tad faster and I gained 5whp up top!
But you definintely need a tune with any aftermarket open element filter intake or it will make your evo run like sh_t.

I like mine. It wasnt just a drop in install though. It took a little coaxing but now that its in, it fits good. Overall mine has stalled about 10 times in the last year so its not too bad. Most of that is due to having this intake along with a Greddy bov. With just one of the 2 it probably wouldnt happen at all but with both the intake and bov, it makes it more likely. The only time it will ever stall is when I am inching forward without letting the clutch all the way out. BTW I never got my ecu tuned afterwards and my car runs fine.

I'd have to agree with above. It's a good, relatively cheap intake, but don't expect huge gains. I've been pretty happy with it, although my hands were pretty cut up after muscling that intake pipe on without removing anything around it.

I think any open-air filter is pretty much the same, especially after you tune for it.
