What a coincidence, I just started sourcing the parts for my Titanium 9.8 turbo setup, will be ordering the 10.5 turbine housing, and will have the cartridge and cold side housing sent out for BB conversion and machining/porting.. 500whp stockish? turbo?? maybe? Probably not, but still stock or better spool, with 480 hp potential.. BTW you no longer have to "find" a full TME turbo to get the features, you can convert a Ti 9.8 turbo to a 10.5ti for a $250 or so..

In any case.. I'll be ordering my components this week, but I want to wait till I hear back from some of the places I called about the BB conversion and the porting/clearancing..

Woohoo Housing ordered.. Once I can verify its fit, I'll post a part number for you guys to convert ANY 9.8 turbo to a 10.5 (Including the OEM Evo8 turbo)

Anyone know a shop that sells reverse rotation compressor wheels? I'll be putting my calipers to good use this week measuring the stock compressor housing to find something that fits.. I'm thinking of taking a mold of the stock wheel and then having it sent to a turbo shop with a CNC machine to take one of their good compressor wheel profiles and "Mirror imaging it" so its reverse rotation..

Isn't that the same thing Vishnu is experimenting with? That is, OEM turbo converted to 10.5 housing...

Possibly.. I do things on my own so I haven't followed what others are doing.. It wouldn't surprise me, it should offer similar performance to a bigger aftermarket turbo kit.

How much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking?

Hey
No one makes reverse rotation compressor wheels. Actually you can buy them, but no one will sell them to you. EVO400 has some. Plan on spending a sh load of money on this project, believe me. The turbo shops that can do this are protecting their product right now, you either buy their complete turbo or nothing at all. No one will sell the wheels to you or want to make one.

$250 not the cheapest price I've seen, but its a brand new casting.. I also ordered a bunch of hardware like crush washers, Vband clamps, gaskets and other stuff..

I want to compare the two completely before I use it.. I also know that I'm breaking new ground at this point since nobody has adapted a CAD design for a turbine wheel to a reverse rotation housing.. I'm hoping that my reputation will allow me to get some of these parts to work with since I'm more than capable of assembling and high-speed balancing these things myself.. I just don't want to do the whole conversion on my own since I don't have access to the right kind of press, CNC Mill or Lathe..

Well, as far as I know, compressor wheels aren't and can't be machined, they are cast and then minor flaws are machined off. The first step in the casting process is to create a ceramic model to create the mold for the wheels. This costs 25-30 grand at least, plus a minium order of 3-400 units at around $100-120 each.

The process I was going to use was to have the wheel CNC machined, Not sure what material to move from, I know of a shop that has a 4 axis CNC machine that does turbines for jet engines.. I think their stuff should be adequate.. CNC machining from billet will be much stronger than castings, and the shape is too complex to do forgings unless you forge the blanks and CNC cut the blades..

Yeah, once I can confirm they work with the stock cartridge everyone will want one since its a low-buck upgrade to do to a stock turbo..
