I put the revo in my friends rsx-s. Its a nice piece and goes in really easy.

Do any of these "shifters" locate the shift knob in the exact same location? I wouldn't mind one, but I'm not willing to give up OE height or the OE "curve". I'd prefer the whole unit moved back 2 or 3", but I'm not willing to deal with that.

the adjustables have two positions that you can set the shift cable lever arm at, this modifies the actual "thow" of the shifter not the knob height or shifter length. so technically the adjustable is better, it allows you to go beyond the limitations of a knob height reduction or a "solid" shifter configuration where the adjustability must remain within the specs of the shifter base.

with adjustables the shifter base must be modified to get the shortest configuration possible. this is why people are hesitant to get them, you have to dremel the plastic and file it down so it's nice and clean (if you care about a clean instalation). that requires more work, taking out the shifter base etc.

the b&m precision has 4 different angle orientations, so you can semi keep the factory orientation, you knob will be a little sideways... not pointing straight up like stock, personally ... i love it. if you want to keep stock knob height, get a b&m precision and mate it with a ralliart resin knob. perfect combo, no increased effort, all the stiffness of bolt action shifting.

and once again... bolt action shifting comes from replacing underhood bushings with METAL ones. that will get you crisp shifts... the shift kit is only for shortening throw and getting rid of those stock rubber bushings that will eventually cause your shifter to slop around.

stock shifter, it's perfect, I would spend the $ on another mod.

i was disgusted with the stock shifter... really sticky. and i didn't notice until i sat in a new evo that it's quite a bit sloppier, but that part doesn't bother me as much as the stickiness. but yeah there are better mods out there, i just wanted it a certain way.

From reading the Motor Trend MR article, it sounds like the MR, and maybe all 05s, will have teflon coated shifter cables. That would be something I'd want to retrofit into my EVO if the parts fit. It should definitely get rid of some of the shifter stickiness I'm experiencing right now.

I just ordered Lancershop's short throw kit, which includes the same hardware as the B&M, plus two sets of solid bushings (shifter and cable), all for $110. If it works as advertised, it's a no-brainer value.

I will report the results when I install it later this month.

Will do. I just received the kit today and it looks good. I'll report as soon as I can get it all together.

Crappy bushings/ fluid/ knob make the stock shifter feel terrible. Fix those three though, and it feels great.

I want a shifter that isn't so much a throw as a roll of the wrist... (yes that short) Who makes the shortest shifter thats well constructed and will last?

The adjustable B&M is the shortest, but you have to do some trimming to get it to fit on the shortest setting.
