interesting... I wonder what a "home made" TD05HRA-16G6-10.5T will do vs. the TD05RA-15GK2-10.5T he is using?

Many of us older folk (and some not so old) are not interested in the trade off of a "bigger turbo". Besides, a 400hp car is more than enough if your driving 20k plus a year in it.

Ok.. here's what I've got so far (some of it on the car, some of it in progress though everything that I list is currently in my possesion)

Buschur upgrades through stage 4 (272 cams instead of 264's)
Ultimate Racing Blowthrough MAF, and UR Upper pipe for the MAF
TurboXS UTEC/Tuner
home made GM boost solenoid upgrade with overboost protection
home made Coil on Plug CDI ignition conversion (Thanks to some input from other users)
Stage 5+ Head (Got the core, its going out for the work shortly)
TD05HRA-16G6-10.5t
JIC Stainless Exhaust Manifold
DNP O2 Housing (the 10.5t housing, Exhaust manifold and O2 housing are going to be Thermal Coated in about a week)
Extrudehoned OE Intake manifold, polished and hard coated (Stock) and port matched to the new Head work.
Blended and flow tested OE Throttlebody (Doing this one myself) with custom idle stop mod

This is all the stuff I have going on at the same time, again I spent money for core components so I don't have downtime on my car while doing R&D.

The stuff I have on-deck assuming I can find inexpensive parts or a sponsor..
I'll likely be doing most of this stuff over the winter..

2.3l stroker shortblock
Exedy Twin Carbon clutch w/ flywheel (I've heard good things about this one)
Upgraded cooling system (increased capacity, not lowering the running temp)
Upgraded tranny and LSD Transfer case..

Throughout this entire process, my car has not had a day of downtime and because it is a truely daily driver, I try to make my modifications in a way that they can be done "in a day" so I build everything to be modular.

I like the pictures. I'm not so sure about leaving the ceramic coating on the flange surfaces, though. Seems like you are just asking for a leak. You should see what 50 to 60psi worth of 1600 degree exhaust pressure will do to a gasket. The ceramic coating could get worn away or blown out.

My round 7cm turbo gasket on my car turned into an oval, and cracked on one side from the pressure and heat.

Josh, don't forget the large part of the gasket failure has to do with the heat side of the equation vs. the pressure... proper ceramics heat more evenly. We've (racers/hot rodders) been running ceramic coated flanges on purpose for a few decades now. It has many advantages. The only problem lies with all of the sub-standard coatings/coaters out there right now. I'll go so far as to say Swain has the best coating, but then again they use a few coats of material with very high ceramic content. You have to over port heads quite a bit using them as they "lay it on thick".... but that is a different subject. Most companies worth their salt promote coating the flanges.
