Yes, a 'diverter' valve simply diverts the air to a different location in the intake. A 'blowoff' valve blows it off to atmosphere. There is a new type coming out however that will 'blow' the vented air, but uses it to perform a certain job. This one will have its own terminology as well...

Can anybody tell us for certain whether the US MR has the same metal diverter valve as the JDM MR? Did Mitsubishi not include this on the US MR?

I can tell you for certain that the US MR has the plastic DV and does not have the ROW metal DV.

i installed my mr dv bov last week. the car does not stall as much as it did when i had my blitz dd (FOR SALE!).. but i notice that backing up into my driveway or going up a hill, the car still slightly stalls. its definitely louder than the stock bov.

I have that same problem . Take notice when you are doing k-turns. You'll start to learn when the valve is going to cutout and just compensate with gas. In the meantime, i am looking for a better alternative.

im not sure if its just me but my MR valve would cause my car to stall out in slow stop and go traffic. i hear others have great luck with this but i didn't and had to sell mine.

Is it possible the stalling issue only occurs on 03-04 Evos? The 05 cars have a different wastegate, turbo and dual solenoid boost control.
Cheers,

I like my MR dv in that it holds boost better than the stocker, but nothing has the drivability of the stocker that I've seen. I have zero stalling or low rpm stumbling issues, but I do get the partial throttle hiccup sometimes in high gear throttle let off situations. Mind you, it is nowhere near as bad as the insane compressor surge from the Forge dv I had for a short time before, but you can still feel a teeny bit of surge/hiccup at partial throttle lift due to slightly improper spring sizing. I have a suspicion that this is why Mitsu went with the plastic valve on the US MR cars.

I sold my MR valve cause i needed money for my new clutch and tires. And since then i have bought a forge DV, and i tried a 1G BOV, and nothing has been as driveable as the stock valve. Although, so far the MR valve is the best ive come across as a substitute.

The 1g im trying out seems to make this howling noise at certain boost levels, and it bucks pretty bad when going from 0 boost/vacuum into vacuum slowly. I dont really like that feeling too much. Im selling my forge DV now and thinking about trying a NEW 1g valve or buying another MR valve.

This is frustrating as all hell trying to find the right BOV.

all this bov seems like a hassle, you have to sacrafice performance / driveability for pshhh sound, or the other way around relating to vta and recirc.......

ISN'T THERE A VTA THAT SOUNDS AWESOME AND DOESN'T HAVE DRIVEABILITY ISSUES??!!! AHHHH, sorry for out burst

APS. Most amazing bov ive ever had. Crisp throttle response. No Shudder. Its well worth the money.
