turboback w/no boost controller

If I add a turboback with no boost controller to an otherwise stock Evo how high will the boost spike?

I am going to install a Buschur turboback with a 3" Random Tech cat. Thanks.

I spiked to 22-23 psi the first time I drove with the turboback on and the stock boost controller. I wouldn't worry about running it like that for a short period of time, but a mbc is cheap insurance. $50-70 is nothing in the long run to keep your car running right.

Was that with or without a cat? I can't use a boost controller and still be legal in my autocross class.

That was with a cat. Actually, you can discount the 22-23 psi because I just realized that that was on my my old boost gauge. I used to have an autometer boost gauge that was off at high boost levels (it would reset to 1.5 psi instead of 0).

would running a turboback exhaust on stock ecu set up ( timing and what not ) and no boost controller cause any severe problems?? i mean i plan on getting TBE then a reflash a month later... are there any problems that could occur?

This is what I have experienced but i don't know if its correct or not;

When my car was stock I spiked at 19psi, then when i got the boost controller everytime i would install anything that would lessen the pressure (turboback, etc..) I would loose PSI and then I have to set it back to the way it was by increasing psi from my boost controller

After I removed my boost controller to stock, my boost fell from 19psi stock to 10psi... I am assuming its cuz there is no back pressure

I removed my manual boost controller cuz it sucked and waiting to install my tubosmart boost controller so i can get back to 21psi

My Q is, is that normal or is there something wrong with my wastegate???

the evo ecu will adjust the boost if you go with the turboback and you will see minimum gains... you need the aftermarket boost controller to take that power away from the ecu if u wanna see big gains....
