Apexi S-AFC II settings
Apexi S-AFC II settings
What performance benefits can be acheived by using this device on a stock Evo? I'm looking at this as the starting point in my mod process to get used to tuning these settings so I can deal with and understand issues on the stock vehicle and then start the mod process. Are there some baseline recommendations for improvements/set points?
Also, is there a wiring harness that works well with this device? I've read both instruction manuals and I have concerns about the ground wiring. Apparently the black and brown ground wire placement had issues in S-AFC ver I. Is this no longer a problem on the II?

well since the Stock evo runs sooo rich from the factory , you have a little adjustment you can do on the mid-top end to get a little more umph from your car safely. start at about 4k rpm all the way to redline and start out gradually -2% all the way up to 15% some have. I am a more conservative guy and run -12% up top to be a little safe without knowing my a/f ratio's. I do recommend getting a wb o2 or getting tuned on one so you can make maximum adjustments and still know you are safe instead of just guessing. good luck.
I am looking at purchasing today. Renn-art has one with the AMS settings, there is another one listed on E-bay with a wiring harness. I'd prefer the wiring harness to soldering on the stock harness. I'm more concerned with learning how to adjust my settings. I know that there are several tuners that provide a good setup for the SAFC but I'm going to be mix/matching quite a bit. I need get rather good at adjusting this as I go. Another guy in my area has his decked out but it spends most of the time at Mitsubishi getting overhauled after he forks it. His last mod was the controller. I want to learn from his mistakes.

Try to read through the s-AFC forum under engine management, then make your decisions.. I had great results with the S-AFC but I have moved on to a different form of engine management.
Settings are going to vary all over the place.. some mods will have a marked impact on the settings you use, so its important to understand the effect that they have. Or have it tuned (or use a Wideband O2 sensor and tune yourself)
The S-AFC is very easy to install, and tune.. It is a fuel computer, and only intercepts and modifies the MAF signal. HOWEVER, it does indirectly effect timing by doing that(and it actually does a real nice job of it if you don't specifically need to control timing)
