TurboXS Boost control
TurboXS Boost control
Hey I just wanted to ask on here to assure myself that I am not out of my mind. I was at my usual shop, and I see another Evo owner that I have helped out before. He shows up with a UTEC that he bought from some shop on the east coast. Now I have a decent amount of knowledge on the car subject... but with directions I think almost anything is somewhat easy. Ok now on to the real question...
Has anyone ever heard on or seen a boost controller running off of only 1 hose??? I have never heard of this... I have only seen those with an input and output... On top of that this "boost controller" does attach to the Factory Boost Solenoid... Which I automatically thought "isnt the point of a boost contrller to get rid of that in the first place.... Anyways I checked all the mechanics lines for the guy and it is hooked up per the UTEC instructions... no boost on the guage...needle wanders around zero... anyways I just wanted to ask about the boost controller and if anyone has ever seen or heard of one with only 1 hose???

LOL The ABC is an Auxiliary Bleed Valve.. the factory boost control solenoid functions by bleeding a set amount of boost out of the mix, whereby raising boost.. the ABC (as its called) functions also by bleeding additional boost from the stock "Circuit"
Most MBC's and aftermarket EBC's use a restriction (the solenoid) to restrict the flow and raise boost (lowering the signal to the actuator)
The UTEC's ABC basically plumbs into the stock bleed system to allow you to raise the boost level slightly, you remove the line from the T-connector to the solenoid (which has the restrictor in it) and add a new line, with this ABC T'd into it.
Since the UTEC is capable of controlling the stock boost solenoid, this bleed valve essentially raises the "range" of boost the stock circuit handles. On a side note, even the low boost level is raised.
Hope this explains the voodoo..

Ok another question we istalled a boost guage at the same time with this and it will not adjust anything on that bleeder valve... the car peaks at like 5-7 PSI and it will not read vacuum WTF
