i took my evo in cuz i lost my second gear (it grinded forever then wouldnt go in) they replaced almost every part in the tranny, and charged me for a new clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate cuz they said it was bad at 12k miles and i have never raced my car or been hard on it, so i get my car back and it has an awful clutch chatter and the pedal vibrates like crazy, so i call them up and tell them what it was doing and they said "yea we where thinking the same thing!!!!!" but when i got the car to them it was a diff. story, they tried to say that it was my fault, when they drove it, it was fine, and they where not going to cover a thing, after threating them with a lawsuit they said they would ripe it apart and if the flywheel was blue (wich i thought they never replaced it in the first place, so i was screwed) that they wouldnt cover it, but after ripping it apart they noticed it was installed wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! screw Gene Messer Mitsu!!!!!!!!! my car in the shop for 6 weeks and im having to pay for this crap!!! oh yea btw my clutch still feels like its slipping! i want my stock one back!

We had a car show this weekend in Indianapolis, and the service manager for our big Mitsu dealer brought an EVO out to it. We were having a discussion about this very issue, and he said that there is a silent recall on the 4-5 gear syncro and that will replace that one. He also said that the 1-2 gear problem is driver error. He said that this car wasnt made to be drag raced and shifted really hard. He said that you have to get off the power and then shift. When I do that, I get a good shift, but my 1/4 times are ***. I dont know if I believe this because when the car was new, I could slam it through the gears. Now I have to baby it. He said that I havent damaged my syncro, and I just need to shift slower. What does everyone think about that?

My EVO was manufactured in March of 2003. Is this a lemon date?

Today I changed the tranny fluid, hopefully this will help some cause when I pulled the drain plug the magnet was covered with metallic crap. Is this normal for 13k?

I got my 4th to 5th gear grind issue fixed under warranty, with no problem! They replaced more than one synchro, other than 5th not sure which one. I had a clutched installed too, since they had the tranny out, and the car has been problem-free ever since!

ok where's some wood to knock, dammit none! I'm screwed now

I only get it 4th-5th sometime and not until lately (25K on the odo). There's been some comments about the possibility that the clutch isn't completely disengaging when the pedal is depressed???

Anyone???

Thanks!

I just yanked out my clutch restrictor this past weekend. Immediately after putting everything back together, my engagement point was right off the floor. This makes me wonder if my clutch was ever fully disengaging to begin with. I adjusted the clutch pedal immediately afterwards to get the engagement point back to where I wanted. Now my shifts are much smoother and I can shift noticably faster.

I have heard of some clutch engagement broblems. One of my buddies evo starts to roll forward when you put it in gear if you are onot on the brake. Do you think that this is the problem with all of these evos and not fully engaging the clutch?

I've compiled a list of TSB's from the NHTSA site and have attached a text file here. Hopefully, this will help answer some of your guys' questions and/or help in your disputes with dealers. This is a list of all current TSB's along with a key as to when they were entered, what it affects, etc.
thanks for the list...one quick question...anyone got hit with the pit pass bullshoot? does that list indicate that we can get a refund if we were charged for a pit pass? Any here have any luck with that TSB?

***I should have bought a s2000
