Oh, while I was on hold with Mitsu Corp. the message kept saying that the lancer EVO would go from 0 to 60 in 4.49 sec. Holly crap I have not even tried to launch my EVO to reach that I wonder what would have happened to my tranny if I did (my gears will be flying front of me) The thing is why would they sat 4.49 when they know the car will fall apart after that?? They said 4.49 then I should be able to do it right??

Hey just curious have you guys experimented at all with adding Synchromesh to the tranny (not the transfer case)? I don't know a lot about the EVO's yet and don't know if the synchros are having troubles due to defect or possibly too slick of lubricant from the factory.

I have a WRX and switched to synthetic (bad move) and after a thousand miles started to get some pretty bad grinding from 3 to 4. I realized this was the synthetic lube and changed out to 100% GM Synchromesh. I heard lots of worries about this because it's a GL-4 lubricant and Subaru called for GL-5. Well so far I've had it in for about 8k miles and it has been nothing but awesome. The bad grinding I was getting has completely disappeared altogether and I am able to put my car into first (don't do it often) at 20 mph without hesitation. It just slips into place now.

As far as people worried about it breaking down under hard driving: I've auto-xed my car 3 times since putting in the synchromesh and if anything, the hotter the tranny got, the better it went into gear....

Side note: Could someone explain the difference between the transmission and the transfer case? What does the transfer case contain? Center Diff?

I am not one for the "snake oil", but I swear the stuff works. Again, as I said before synthetic oils are probably too slippery, I used 2 qts, Sycromesh and 1 qt RL 75W90 and it shifts soo much better. I have a bunch of 75W90 so I am just using it up. I would probably try the 75W90NS with the syncromesh or maybe just the redline 'NS'. The standard 75W90 is just too slippery, everyone who has run it straight has had problems. I have not seen anyone using the NS, why?, i don't know. Just my 2 cents.

i bet it is....Since you are buying oil, try the NS/Syncromesh blend. I would be curious to hear about the results.

The redline 75W90 gear oil says it exceeds GL5 requirement. I'd keep that stuff far away from the tranny. GL5 oils are corrosive to yellow metals and copper.

Our trannies require GL4 oils. Pennzoil synchromesh is GL4. More info about pennzoil in this thread:

Which Redline 75W90? They make several different tranny oils.

Redline MT90 75W90 is good stuff. GL-4.

Do not use MTL. That stuff is Crap. Anything that has a recommendation from the manufacturer saying "Do not use a 100% mixture of this product" cannot be good.

I use a mixture of Redline MT90 and synchromesh. 70-30 mixture. Good stuff.
