I believe my car is a Aug '03 build and it had the 4-5 grind. I've since replaced the hub/synchro and it no longer has issues.
My manufacture date is October 2003. I had the 4-5th gear grind. I got it fixed around April of 2004. I havent had any problems since.

So I don’t understand?? They have a new part for our tranny because they believe the first design had issues.. How come that is not a recall?? I mean all the EVOs with certain date release will have the issue sooner or later. It won’t fix it self and if it does not show up soon we will be all out of warranties.

I think it is becouse it is a known issue even the dealer told me that but they dont want to call it a recall becouse that will be allot of money out of there pocket. Plus there is a chance that some of those cars manufactured in those dates will not ever have the problem. Those that will have the problem they will fix it no problem. But becouse of your clutch i think you will have some problems getting it under warranty

Look you got a aftermarket clutch installed (Twin disk) and it was not installed by the factory. You know how Mitsu is Mayer and how they will complain about everything. All they have to do is well you have a clutch installed it is not a OEM clutch you had someone else install the clutch so how do we know that it was installed right? How do we know that the clutch you installed is the cause of the problem? Im not trying to get you down im just telling you how it will be. I went through the same thing and even with having them install a new ACT clutch for me they were putting a limited warranty on my drivetrain. So installing a Twin Disk and them not even installing it what do you think they will say honestly? Just my 0.02

The clutch has nothing to do with it as it's engaging and Dis-engaging right. I have no issues with all gears except 4th. I had this issue before and I still have it ( worse now). its a TSB known issue and they will cover it.

[QUOTE=Az3ar]I would use the beer in you avtar it might make it shift better.
Guinness makes a lot of things better, unfortunately, and EVO trans is not one of them! I know that the oil is not a fix, but it has helped. Anytime you change the trans oil in a car that only has 9K and the magnet on the plug looks like a carbide burr, one must think that there is a mechanical/engineering issue at hand. Personally, when mine takes a s**t, I will take it to a specialist rather than the dealer, unfortunately the dealer doesn't want to spend much time on warranty repair, so you will either get a "rushed" job or another ****ty unit assembled in Japan. It is really amazing that this car is as good as it is. The final important details were not executed well at all. A little off topic but parallel with attention to detail....Have you seen a stock cylinder head with the valves removed? It is absolute ****....the seats the square edges at the "bowl"....Foul! I must say I am a little bummed, you would have thought after building AWD vehicles for as long as they have we would have seen more improvement over the years.....ummm Evolving! Good job Mits!

Yup seen it. But a nice pocket port with 1mm over valves and a good port and polish job fixed all that. Now im just waiting to see what kind fo gains i got. Anyway you work for revolver? You know Matrix Engineering? Lets talk about your cams if you do work for them.

Can you let me know what's the TSB code. I'm having the same 4th gear issue as your. The 2nd gear also but not as bad as the 4th gear. Thanks.
