Well of course they will be on my car. Removing these parts is a nightmare. For my brakes issues, yes they have records of my brakes before all these parts. However, I dont think I have anything in writing about my tranny since I was in the car and the tech was driving and he says this is how EVO shifts.. so nothing in hand about that at all. the issue is there, not from my clutch or any other parts, it was there before and over %70 of EVO owners have the same issue. I know they will blame it on the clutch and etc but thats not true.

Is there anyway you can hit up another dealership for work? I just sucks man your getting the short end of the stick. It would be one thing if there was no fix for this but mitsu knows there is a problem and has released the SB to corect it. Now it just sems like your shop is trying to avoid the work via the mods issue. For a tech to take a ride in your car and take time of the shop floor it is suposed to be logged by the service stand. Give them a call to find out. Other than that i think its going to take some legal action from someone to get the ball rolling on these types of issues. Maybe a contact with like 20-20 or 60mins or one of those shows would be worth a try. I someone is a lawer on here or has a hook up maybe we can start something. One thing that bothers me is that mitsu says the evo runs blah blah to 60 and blah blah in the quarter. but if you try it then your voiding your warenty. My clutch is fine but i still feel that it is just a tad to weak and is very odd that there are so many problems. My rep agree with me on this but said hey thats advertising.

I had a problem with my 5th gear when i first got my car. It was like 1 week after i bought it brand new off the lot. I could not shift normally into 5th without if grinding if i just let it fall into 5th it would work fine. I took it in and they did all the work ect. After it was all said and done they were not going to cover it under warranty due to me posting on this forum. After fighting with them and Corporate i walked out with a new clutch for free and the tranny installed and fixed for free. They warned me about having a restricted warranty on my drivetrain with the new clutch but like i said how can they install somthing that they will not warranty? So that is a whole new fight down the road if anything ever happens.

Now i have a new question. I called to cancel my warranty and they said they want me to bring the car down before they will do this. Is that normal? Just wondering.

Are you trying to cancel the stock warrenty? or like a add on warenty? Most of those you can just swing by the dealership and sing the paper work. ( just had one of my troops do this, military) he purchased a 3 year warenty from the dealer on a car that had over 3 years left on the warenty. If its through another company rather than the dealership you should just be able to call them and cancel. there maybe a small charge like $50. Also is the clutch they put in there stock? Cause when my tech said he would do one for me for 40-60bucks he said i could go aftermarket and i asked about the whole warenty issue and he said they had to have have proof that the car was raced to reject the warenty on what ever is broke.

Im just trying to cancel my extended warranty and anything else i can cancel. LOL.. No sense in having somthing that they will laugh at me for when i go take it in. Plus i think it will be wrong to try and get somthing under warranty now that i just rebuilt the whole engine. Engine and Drivetrain wise i have no need for the warranty. Electrical i think i might have problems becouse of the AEM but anything else i might be able to squeeze through.

I'm curious about the build dates of the cars w/ the 5th gear synchro issues. It would be nice to know when Mitsu started using the updated 5th gear synchro in our cars.

I have 10k miles now and never had a problem w/ grinding going into 5th. My build date is October 2003.

Having slight grinds going from 1-2 and from 2-3 seems normal to me since I've experienced the same behavior on my 1g and 2g DSMs.

'04's do have a different tranny part number. I suspect they include the updated gear set.

I believe my car is a Aug '03 build and it had the 4-5 grind. I've since replaced the hub/synchro and it no longer has issues.
