I currently own an Audi S4 (B6 - 340 hp V8, 6Mt & awd), and I previously owned an E36 M3. The EVO RS is WAY BETTER on a racetrack than either one of those fine German autobahn cruisers. The S4 weighs 3800 lbs. It is real fast on the straights, but just can't keep up in the twisties due to being so damned fat.

I love to drive the S4 fast on an open highway, or take my girlfriend out to dinner in it. But for performance, the EVO wins hands down.

For a street car, you could of gotten corolla, camry, cavalier, even a xA, xB, or Geo.

It'll do a good job doing it, but I don't think that's why people buy evo. It's more than a street car.

I really hope people are pass racing traffic lights to traffic lights.

the only m3 or s4 you can buy for 39,000 would be used.

this debate is going to go on forever, mitsubishi gives you the choices of RS, GSR, MR for a reason, for you to CHOSE for your OWN uses and for your OWN taste whether its for track use or street use it doesn't matter you can do what ever you like with the car. There are going to be RS buyers GSR and MR buyers. I dont really see a point in trying to justify what is worth what on which model. Its like....you want the girl with a fat *** with no **** who is nice or the girl with the fat *** and with big **** too but is kinda *****y or do you want the girl who got the *** and the **** and is hot as hell but *****y as hell......gotta give some to get some. More you pay more you get.

I may be selling my 2004 Nogaro Blue Audi S4 sedan (B6 -- 340 hp, awd & 6MT) with blue alcantara / black leather seats and premium package (glass sunroof, and a bunch of other stuff I forget). It only has 5000 miles. I'm going through a divorce and just can't afford 2 cars anymore. The EVO RS is so satisfying a car for street and racetrack, and it is practical with a backseat, 4 doors and a trunk (I have 3 kids). The slightly used S4 will be expensive by EVO standards, but a good deal by Audi standards. Just putting out an early feeler.

I decided to check out the MR and the only thing I can really say is that the Bilsteins are better than the GSR shocks (which are kyb's i think)...for a street car those shocks will help as will the slightly deeper 6th gear. I could affor an MR pretty easily, but would I buy one for close to 40k? No, thats pushing the evo out of its proper bracket and pushing it near corvette price territory...too much competition in the 40k price range.

For me personally it's not worth it because I already have an 03 and want to modify it.
Only thing I sometimes regret is not getting the RS since it's lighter and have the front LSD. Then again, no power windows and ABS throws me off. The RS2 they used to sell before (Evo 6) was the best package offered.

If I was a new buyer I'd probably be choosing between the RS and the 05 GSR. 6 speed is nice but in my opinion not worth 5k+. Suspension and wheels have to go no matter what.

My vote is for the MR, because if you get the "normal" Evo and want HIDs you have to pay 3 grand plus you get leather and sunroof and a small subwoofer which I don't want, which puts the "normal" Evo up there in price with the MR. The MR might cost 35,000 but it has 6-speed, blistens which is nice. But which ever way you go, its still an EVO!!!!
