MR vs EVO: Is the MR edition worth it?
keep thinking that
I bought the ultimate AS car. I wouldn't care if they called MR, BR or whatever the hell they want to call it. FUnctionality is key and the MR is extremely functional.

Hi guys,
As you can see in my profile,I am very new to this forum but I am a old timer for the WRX forums.
Anyway, since thursday I am the happy owner of the only EVO MR in Tucson. Well, I was going to get the regular EVO or even the RS but after test driving the MR and paying attention to detail on the equipment I quickly changed my mind and I decided to buy it.
From past experience, you should get the best in the first time, back in Sep 02 I purchased a brand spanking new Subaru Impreza WRX Sonic yellow Edition, within 14 months I already spent $12000 in all kind of ****, however I was never truly happy with the car.
Breaking my gearbox on my WRX for the second time in less than 2 month was no $uking joke, I ended paying out of my own pocket. By the way, the $12000 does not include the nearly $4500 that I spent in the last 2 months for 2 used gearbox and a ACT clutch and flywheel including labor.
Further more I still had the stock brakes, rims, tires and shocks.. need I say more?
My point is that the EVO was superior than the WRX in every way so take my tip, buy the best now, you would not regret, the expensive ends being cheap in the long term.
I made 280.3WHp @18psi and 91oct gas on a Dyno Dynamic at Dyno-Comp in Phoenix tuned by Clark(AZ scoobie) with my WRX. After all that moeny spent my car only managed to get a mediocre 13.2@104mph.
My EVO MR should run as quick or even quicker, it has better brakes, rims, tires, gearbox, suspension, seat and you name it that it has it.
If you can afford the MR just get it from the start . By the way, if you are around Tucson and want to see the EVO MR in person just drop me a e-mail at carlosgarcia4@***.net
Take care guys

The bottom line is that the MR is really, really for people who won't modify the car and won't track it.(we heard stories about the warranty and tracking the car). Also for people who wants the bragging rights to say " I got a MR." But actually we (USDM) got a "MR Edition" not a real MR. We always get the watered down version.

I would say if you were in the market for a new Evo then the MR would probably be worth if but if you already have a GSR I would say it is deffinately NOT worth trading and taking the loss again (new car loss)
please don't think any aftermarket parts or mods. it is so vague, unreal and indefinite.
let's say it stock to stock, evo is better than wrx, sti is better than evo, mr is better than all of above.....

For someone who does not own an EVO it is definetely worth it to pay the extra couple of Gs.
For someone like me who already has and EVO and has modified it, its not worth taking the hit on the depreciation...

This is amongst the most idiotic threads I've seen here. We will, unfortunately have to repeat it twice int he next two years, first for the Evo 9, then again fort he 10. We need to all enjoy what we have and be thankful for it.

i agree
I tihnk the MR is worth it. Even though the Active Center Differential isn't all that important without the Super Active Yaw Control (
didn't add ACD until they realized the SAYC needed it to make the Yaw Control work well), it still has its advantages. I wish I could afford one.
