i always wonder...what makes Evo VIII Mr faster? i mean faster acceleration...its acceleration is 4.3 and evo viii is 4.8... i didnt see any performance mod added to it..or did i miss it? what made the acceleration faster? or what i can do to make my acceleration faster?

 

it has more hp (5) and torque (13). I doubt the .5 seconds is the real difference between the two...more along the lines of .1 maybe .2. Its also a few lbs lighter.


to improve your acceleration...alot. For starters mbc and engine managemen.

 

It also has a 6-speed tranny

 

These #'s don't sound right for only having a couple more hp.

 

It also has front and rear LSD and its weight is the same as the RS. So with the added HP/TQ LSD's and reduced weight, it adds up.

 

i dont think it weights that little (3150). I think it weighs more close to 3220.

 

I don't think it is really faster... it's just better... because of things like the acd, Bilstein shocks, and 6-speed tranny.

I really dont see a speed differece, i friend of mine bought a wicked white MR, he owns a speed shop, i own a Weightless White one (no difference in color of you ask me) lol but they dynoed at the same horsepower but the MR had a 8 more pounds of tourqe. All i heard about the MR is that the ride is much nicer and smoother, otherwise im too happy with my 2003 to buy a 35,000 evo with a ACD and 6 speed.

 

and actully the 2003 - 2004 evo weights less (3,263) than the 2005 Evo MR (3,285)

Im not ******* the MR or anything cuz trust me they look great and if i had the cash to have both i would but i really dont see anything that would make me trade or sell my 2003 in for it. I can add aftermarket rims, get a vortex generator and get an MR badge off of ebay and no one can tell the difference.

 

...because the newer car has the 10.5 hot side, where the 03's and 04's have the smaller 9.8 hotside housing.

There does seem to be evidence that the MR is faster around a road-course track than the Evo VIII GSR. What I'd be really curious to see is some more tests where an MR and an '03 Evo are driven back to back on the same course and see difference in lap time.

 

Tell all the people that go to the track every week that drag racing is stupid......... i think they'd disagree.

 

drag racing is stupid..?? true....doing it ILLEGALLY on the street is much smarter...

Sike not tryin to be smart donkey but drag racing is a great way to get street racing off the streets. When i go to the track i run my passes at almost 100mph w/o the fear of being caught by the 5.0 and it's a great rush.

I think once u start running at teh track, racing on the streets just become a immature thing that you think is cool b/c of fast n the furious.
