Actually I like the sound that it make. I've traced the sound and it seems to be coming from the intake system. I'm just wondering if it's a normal sound or not.

I've been looking for a new air intake.
No, I had one of the typhoons and it sounded awesome but made the car surge like hell! It really let up above 5k, lots of posts about underhood intakes here.

I'm running the drop-in K&N that just replaces the factory filter.

I got mine from the same web site, same product. I end it up by using only the cone filter and not the piping and other accessories that came with it. What a waist. Made my car wanted to stall everytime. I shoulda just bought the filter and replace the stock filter.

Could be compressor surge? I bet its coming from the intake not the BOV. Under heavier decel you make enough pressure to open the BOV. When lightly feathering it the BOV is too tight and the air escapes BACKWARDS into the turbo and causes it to flutter like a rattlesnake. This is MUCH more noticable with a K+N type intake. This happened to me with a Tial VTA BOV. I lightened the spring and now even the lightest decel pressure escapes through the BOV where its supposed to. No more comp surge.
