Just to let you know, all service departments are different. The owner of the Mitsu dealer I purchased my car from is part owner in an import shop that has advertisements on this very site. They will do all warrenty work unless a 3rd party part you put on directly affects the claimed warrenty work, which is how it should be.
Well, we don't live in the perfect world that you do, so enjoy what you have and quit talking $hit on here to all the members. Unfortunately, about 90% of the members on here experience these problems all the time with the Mitsu dealers. How about giving helpful info, instead of acting like a dick!

I didn't talk $hit to all the members, just this one. And I find it hard to believe 90% of the members here experience these warrenty problems either. I think alot of the problems people are having is that when they tear up their car doing 5k RPM 1st gear drops and then wonder why mitsu won't replace their clutch etc etc.

There is no current new information, if there was I'm sure it would be a hot topic as someone mentioned 90% of the people on this board are having warrenty problems.

as much as it sucks that the warranty gets voided for simple mods like that, read the manuals and warranty info. it clearly states that any aftermarket add-ons, can and will void the warranty. im not taking sides because as a fellow lancer owner, mine too is voided, but look at it from mitsubishi point of view, if you were mass producing these cars and alot of them are becoming heavily modified and malfunctioning, would you want to fork out the money/parts to fix them when it was their fault in the 1st place for adding them on?

exactly people dont realize modding cars is your personal risk, they want the cake and eat it too, which will not happen in the real world.

I know this has been posted lots of times before, but a new car mfgr. can't void your warranty for putting on aftermarket parts. If you make a warranty claim, then they have to prove that the aftermarket parts CAUSED the problem that you are complaining about. If they can prove it, then they can deny warranty coverage. That's the law. I believe it's the Magnussen-Ferguson Act, a federal law.

In practice, your Mitsu dealer can say anything they want. It will be up to you to sue to get warranty coverage. Check on your state's claim limit in small claims court. Most warranty claims are probably under the limit. You represent yourself in small claims court. The more evidence you have the better (orginal dealer sales contract and Mitsu warranty book, documentation of the damage, opinion of independent mechanic that aftermarket part did not cause problem, etc.). Bring the mechanic with you to court and have him testify. There's no way that Mitsu will tell the Judge about a corporate policy of voiding warranties just for adding aftermarket parts, because it's illegal.

Have fun.

you know what..... mitsu isn't the only one doing this. Any manufacturer has the right to deny warrenty if an aftermarket part is installed on the vehicle. They cannot warrenty someone else's part or work.

Guys, its plain and simple. Mod at your own risk. If something does screw up, switch it back to stock (PITA) but you'll keep your warranty.

As for the 90% thing. How many people are on these boards? Not A Freakin Chance man. How many "Warranty Denied" threads have you seen? I did a search for Topics with "Warranty" or "Denied" in the title. FOUR, FOUR FRACKIN topics... THEN I did a search for topics with "Warranty" in the title (some of which said "First Warranty Work done with all my mods.... " and the like) and there were 230. Then I did a member search and searched ONLY for "Evo" in people's user names and came up with 2610 members. Thats 8.8%. Now, granted this is a TOTALLY invalid percentage calculator, since a lot of people that have warranty issues don't start their own thread, they just post in another thread, so we'll multiply that 230 by, what, FIVE to be generous. Thats 1150. Which comes out to ... 44%. Hell, I'll even double THAT percentage to make some people happy. 88%. PRETTY DANG close to 90%. BUT WAIT, theres more. then come all the thousands of people on this board that own evo's but DON'T have "evo" in their user name (like myself). I'm THINKIN that might be around TEN TIMES as many people as have "Evo" in their name. WHICH moves your percentage back down to 8.8% coincidentally. SO STFU with your CRAZY 90% bull$h!t... thankyouverymuch, have a nice day, and try the soufflé. I'm OUT!!!
