When's TC totally out of use

My tc howls past 40mph and people say its sign of going bad but when is it totally out of use. I have to drive from norcal to seattle and don't want any driveline surprises in middle of nowhere.

Thats probally your problem, the fluid you used which caused your t case to start going out. I have a friend whos knows this and learned that mistake the hard way.

hmm

well my transfer case has been whining for 1000 miles now.....i think the reason i had problems also was because when they put my motor back in my EVO they used redline also and it lasted 200 miles before it started whining......MBNA won't cover it under warranty even though my car only had 3K on it....i'm working on buying a used one now...i'll use the stock fluid from the dealer....but i've talked to a few dealers and they told me to use a different fluild...so they have no F**ing idea either....Mitsubishi blows!!!!!!!!!!! ...but the most fun car i've ever owned

Yeah it took my friend 2 times to figure it out, then he used the stock fluid and it has been fine for 4000 miles now.

My transfer case went out...dealer drained the fluids and they were black with metal shavings in it. I wouldn't recommend going very far.

I would change the fluids again to make sure there are no metel shavings. If their are, don't do the road trip.

otherwise, have fun!

I just did a road trip to san diego, the fluids in my TC were changed last week with a new clutch install.

I used redline 75w90 for the TC and mine does not howl, growl, or make any other unusual noises.

happy new year!
