Why do you guys conceal your V1's (other than theft)? Is it illegal in some states? I mount mine loud and proud just below the passenger visor. Doing the hardwire this weekend.

I have mine mounted similar to Vanilla Sky but I've always let the wire dangle. Is there much to concealing it behind the scenes? Do you just wedge the wires in the edges or do you actually do a partial removal of some parts like the A pillar cover and put the wires completely behind it?

ok, ive been meaning to ask this.

1. I have mine mounted just to the driver side of the rear view mirror and just below the mirror. I put it here because it is clearly in my site without blocking my view. When i "get on it" from slow speeds, the lasar detector goes crazy. EVERYTIME. I can't fathom this, anyone else have this problem?

2. How do you guys see the thing mounted on the passenger side? One of the biggest reasons i went with the v1 was because how much it lights up when it picks up a radar...it really catches your attention.

I bought a 25ft black phone line(flat) and ran it into the roof and down the a-pillar, behind the dash and to the cig lighter. Took 10 minutes total

Do you guys think the V1 can be hard wired to the power in the light(by sunroof switch) and have the V1 stuck to the windshield left of the rearview mirror? That is how my bro and his friends have thiers mounted in BMW's.

Let me know what you guys think?

just buy a fusetap and hardwire it into the fuse box. it runs perfect straight back up the pillar then just tuck it into the headliner.

It's not a switched power source, so until the car does it's 2-minute "turn off all lights" thing, the V1 will still be on. Same time cycle as when you leave your headlights on and turn the car off.

I still recommend the lighter socket, you could just as easily tap a different (however, much more IMPORTANT) wire under the dash though. Any switched power will do.

Dunno if I recommend fuse taps... eek.

That sounds like the easiest. What and were do you buy a fuse tap and which fuse exactly do you attach it to?

Sorry for the ignorance with some of this. The only time I had to mess with fuses is with older systems in previous cars.

just buy a fusetap from Pepboys it was 9dollars. I then just plugged it into the accesory slot and it worked like a charm. the hardest part was finding a good negative, I would recommend getting a volt meter that way you can test everything as you are doing it. this way you are protected by a fuse, and the fuse that V1 sends with the unit.

its super simple I did the whole thing in about an hour!
