If your going to do your own oil changes just save all your reciepts this works with all other Mits cars. and from what I have heard so far from Mits. the Cert. Tech. is for in the dealership. As long as you can prove that ypu are meeting Mits. requirements regarding service your warr. is safe.

FACT: The 4G63 engine for U.S requires 10W/30 Fully Synthetic Oil and is filled at the factory with Mobil1. Also the Yokohama ADVAN tires where specifically design for the EVO and are very sticky, but very soft.. Expect to rotate the tires every 5000 miles and replace them frequently.

Other than synthetic oil and faster tire wear, the added cost in maintenance is well worth it.

in order for Mitsu to get 271hp it was neccessary to use fully Sythetic oil. The reason for this was to prevent turbo coking so in the tradition of EVO's uncompromized approach to the ulimate performance the decision was made to require sythetic oil use.

It a small price to pay for the most powerful production 4-cylinder engine in the hemisphere.

Question. Are we to break the 4G63 engine in with Synthetic Oil? Does this affect how the rings seat as well as the final compression that will be had? From my understanding, to achieve max compression when breaking in an engine, it is recomended that normal 10/30 oil is used until the rings seat, then switch to full Synthetic. Is this just a myth?

Also, what is the recommended mileage break in period for the Evo?
