To be honest, I don't really see why they would feel like they need to. The FQ400 is a limited 100-off. It's not like Subie is gonna lose any money by not making a competitor. The only thing the FQ400 does is up the Evo's image. It's not like the STi's image is bad so Subie isn't losing anything by not making a competitor to the FQ400 (except in the eyes of a select few Evo fanatics who think a "400hp warrantied, but needs a service every 3000 mile" Evo is something that they absolutely need to have).

FQ400 isn't even JDM. Type25 can compete with it in UK.

I know, my point was that Subaru already makes different versions of the STi.

i think the FQ400 should first prove itself by beating the STi Spec C WR1 Type RA-Z1 time set in Nürburgring...that will really make subaru start worrying...

What Subaru needs to do is bring the JDM 2.0 liter engine in their STI's and sell it at Evo 8 GSR's price with dealer aftermarket service.

I would like to see a bigger turboed, 2.0 liter STI's with more boost and FMIC at the same price or little less than MR.

That would be something hard to beat, since the 2.0liter engine JDM models seem to handle a lot better (less understeer) than USDM models.

What I understand is that some weight on the front helps the handling a bit. But that is the reality of an AWD drive car. You either get some oversteer (Evo) or understeer (STi).

actually the weight in the front makes you oversteer. That's why mitsu recommends lifting your front with higher tire pressure and dropping your a ss down.

that's what you get for having a awd car that's based on front wheel drive, unlike Skyline.

FMIC in a STI? dream on =) And what does engine have to do with handling lol.. you mean there are JDM versions that have handling tuned more for track than USDM such as many variations of Spec C.

I think the problem with USDM STi are just the lack of different packagings. Some people may want a better street setup and some may want more for racing. Those choices are available oversea.

no, the engine variant does play in factor for some reason on standard STi, not wrx wr1, or spec c or ra z1 or sti sti sti z983kujslit.

Exactly, unfortunately the amazing JDM engines dont come over if subaru was really serious they would beef up the EJ 257 or release the high reving EJ 207 here. Al can even attest to the majic and strength of the EJ 207- With that out of the way the chasis differences could be strictly focused on as that would still be an issue and something the evo people take for granted
