I did not totally misunderstand your point. He is not interested in the STi, that is fine for him. He has driven other STi's and does not care for Subaru. For the most part if you don't like a few of the cars a manufacturer makes then most likely you won't like any of them. Some people hate Fords and love Chevy's and vice versa and no matter what stats you show them they will never convert. Alot like politics. I would say that maybe the STi8 could surprise Claudius and change his views on Subie forever but never know.

Since I'm an American, I can only say that this is exactly my reasoning for buying this car. They both have great histories and huge amounts of owners who swear by their cars, but I simply like the look of Evos better. Plain and simple.

That was my suggestion.

I live in Europe and have tried an STI, the one we get here, with a 2l turbocharged engine and 265 bhp. The brakes fade shortly after you start using them, the car understeers like no tomorrow and the turbo kicks in very late. In addition to that, I dont like the way the car looks too much. Not compared to an Evo anyway. If there were no Evos, I would probably be driving around in a modified STI.
Well, I was suggesting a new STi is a lot different then a previous one. Now you know what we get. Which one would you choose now? I am leaning to STi cause I have already one on order at MSRP. But EVO is still not a bad car. I would have to look around to get one (it's not easy to find a good dealer here) but it's possible.
Well, at least I'll wait for a head to head comparisions.

BTW: Why so many posts are gone? I think even one or more of my posts were deleted. Strange....

From: houston tx,
isn't the radio in the JDM car essentially an aftermarket kenwood unit?

We get worst climate contols.
We get uglier seats (better than no recarios)
We get the more weight with less goodies.
We get cheaper Radio.
We get 1 din insteat of 2 like on the GSR.
We get less horsepower (expected)

Everything is except for this small list i've made. Please feel free to add anything. I'd be pissed if they do add the diffs in the near future. That means i'd have to trade in my brand new car because i want ACD unless it adds a lot more weight and doesn't make that much performance difference. I do want the snow setting for the winter though. Hopfully ralliarts could help me out?

I'm still buying one b/c it's still an awesome car but i would like to ask why. I personally dont' mind everything to be optional adding my price to upwards towards $36,000.
i dunno abt u U.S guys but they have ti-Turbo installed in the evo8s over here.it comes stock if i'm not wrong.

You want to know what the bigger pisser is??? For the price you pay now on the EVO in the US, it's the same price in Japan converted from Yen and you get all the goodies.

USDM not worth 30k

Nope, titanium turbo is available as an optional extra.

You think that's expensive? Over here our car taxes are probably the highest in the world. According to today's spot rates an JDM Evo 8 GSR would cost around 84950 USD.

Hope that gives you some perspective.

Ahh, this thread is back from the dead. Yes, signapore get screwed in taxes. It's a good way to keep cars off the road.

Anyways, there was no reason for not giving us front LSD except to cut cost. Same goes for semi-auto climate controls. We do not have a version of the GSR like the rep said orginally. Our version is like a stripped evo 7 RS with A/C and outside GSR look. I guess they just call it evolution because ours is different.

Dont' get me wrong as of now you can't buy a better performance car for it's price. I'm still waiting to see how the STi performs.

Now we are waiting for the ralliart goodies to compare horspower wise with warrentee in tack. Hello? ? This would be a good way to cover some ground we lost.

***This thread is old. We should start a new one if people are interested in recent opinions and USDM Evo pros and cons.
