It has evolved to meet California's strict emission laws, U.S. driving speeds and cold temperatures. It has also become less expensive and a more back to basics to do well in the U.S. Simple as that.

I like that Your probably right on everything else too. I was looking in terms of performance but i guess it took statement the wrong way. My fault.

BTW, The Ralliart Edition will be based on the regular Lancer. I was told to think along the lines of the Mazda MP3. No Ralliart Edition Evo.

You're still getting a fast car. Yea it sucks that you aren't getting what should be in it, but thats why you have replacement parts. I for one can not wait to get the car, and if added stuff comes out a year later, ill just trade in my car.

differences between JDM and US?

If the 271 HP is accurate for the US EVO8 and assuming the JDM is closer to 300 HP, what difference is there between the two motors? Besides the titanium turbo in the JDM, where is the power difference? I didn't see anything in the specs of the two to show the 20-30 HP and 15 TQ difference. Is there a computer difference?

Following that, I'm wondering how easy it will be to upgrade the US EVO. I'm sure there will be plenty of ways eventually, I just hope it doesn't cost all my pennies in my piggy bank.

BTW, is under 5 seconds 0-60 really possible with 271/273 in a 3263 lb car? It seems kinda optimistic. A corvette is like 80-90 more HP/TQ and ways 50 lbs less and gets between 4.5-5 seconds. Of course it depends on the driver, but it still seems optimistic.

I usually don't like to get a first version of something, but it'll be hard to wait for the next gen US EVO. I just hope isn't like movie companies when they release DVDs. Some movie companies release a DVD and then release a special edition version the following year without letting the consumer know.

If I do decide to get one, I just hope there will be some left. All you fools might get one before I get a chance to. Gotta pay some debts off first!!!

Power differences could be due to
- Computer chip due to different emissions standards
- Exhaust system to complement the chip
- Japan gets higher octane gas which gives more power

The Evo specs are really similar to the 350Z. The 350Z gets a 0-60 of about 5.5 sec and the Evo with a hard launch can maybe get 5 sec? The gearing is also different.

People, first of all, this is not the first version of anything.. The EVO has been around forever, it's just a matter of emissions equipment on the car. True you may have a problem here or there, but doesn't every car!? New model or continuing model, they all have some type of problems.. Be happy with what you get and stop whining about the ACD/AYC... Like I read in another forum before, you won't notice it not being there unless you're a fluent hardcore racer that has used an EVO before.. Besides, if I catch you drifting around a corner in the streets if you had AYC/ACD, you would definately be getting a free trip to the county jail. HAHA Get it and you will see that it's a remarkable machine, I know I believe... Don't Worry, Be Happy.....

Hmmm... Sorry about whining (lol) but is how strong do you think the engine is, I mean there running 271 hp with 19 psi, that doesnt sound right to me, since the WRX has 227 hp and i belive it runs at 13 psi, is the engine weak or somthing? Also i belive that the first year round car is never the best of its capabilities, i think the sales corp wanted to introduce new features and they want the car as of right now to be more of the "bang for the buck," since for under 29 grand its imo the best car to buy. I belive the ACD/AYC and better weight will be the answer in the EVO 9, so its evolving..lol...This is just what I think from my knowlage of sales corporations, this could be all completly wrong, lol....

Just ma oppinion

Peace

GTR - I noticed you never posted to this thread

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=11679

which asks about track time. You whine and whine and whine about everything, yet I am guessing you don't even know how to drive a car at speed. (racing down I95 does not count ya know).

Maybe at Pepboys the little kids would be impressed, but.....

Go spend $40k and get one of those EVO VII's. bye.

We get worst climate contols.
We get uglier seats (better than no recarios)
We get the more weight with less goodies.
We get cheaper Radio.
We get 1 din insteat of 2 like on the GSR.
We get less horsepower (expected)

Everything is except for this small list i've made. Please feel free to add anything. I'd be pissed if they do add the diffs in the near future. That means i'd have to trade in my brand new car because i want ACD unless it adds a lot more weight and doesn't make that much performance difference. I do want the snow setting for the winter though. Hopfully ralliarts could help me out?

I'm still buying one b/c it's still an awesome car but i would like to ask why. I personally dont' mind everything to be optional adding my price to upwards towards $36,000.

Mitsubishi has been telling me that the official HP numer is under rated due to what happened with Mazda, Ford and Hyundai. 271 isn't the real number, but the one the legal department felt would be safe.

I feel the public has the right to know what goodies we are cheated out of. I guess mitsubishi is more interested in making a buck than providing a statement for a once a non-profit car.
This is news to you how? EVERY manufacturer is out to make money and unfortunately in the US we have to contend with making cars pass emmisions too which adds to complication.

What I question is the larger fuel tank? Why?

What I'd love to see is the Jspec version and the US version broken down to see the differences..I'm not talking about the turbo or AYC or ACD. I talking about component locations and wire colors.

Hmmmm....

Aside from all that we didn't get I think we should be happy. Mitsu is taking a big step Forward to compete. Think if we cried enough think we could get that familiar french company to bring the 206 here too or are we asking too much....Hehehe
