Dude... Be happy you have the Evo Viii already... I have to wait until October before it comes out here... Granted I will be getting the GRS full spec, but The Evo has finally made it to the States, be at least thankful for that. I do belive that would have been more than happy to send the full spec version to the US, but the US being a free country and all has a lot of regulations and such.

be happy with what we've got... it's a big improvement over 2002 OZ lancer...

lesson in life: be happy with what you got, instead of unhappy with what you don't have...

Anyways, there was no reason for not giving us front LSD except to cut cost. Same goes for semi-auto climate controls. We do not have a version of the GSR like the rep said orginally. Our version is like a stripped evo 7 RS with A/C and outside GSR look. I guess they just call it evolution because ours is different.

**This thread is old. We should start a new one if people are interested in recent opinions and USDM Evo pros and cons.
d00d.....you complain an aweful lot about the Evo VIII for a person who actually in the end likes the car. You yap about what the E8 does not have more than the Sti guys at the subie forum!

Stop whining about what you don't have. It'll leave you with more time to enjoy what you do have....AN EVO!

If people ask for it, it will come. I'm just informing newbies on what our cars do not have compared to the JDM. What's wrong with that

Anyways, i'm not the one who brought this forum alive after death. Or i could care less and mod what i dont' like myself. Only thing i feel i really need is a front LSD. Perhaps less understeer in auto X? One way to find out but an open diff is actually ok on a larger track.

Ok I am an future STI owner. But I do not want to let that bias you guys in what I am about to say. i am being honest here. And not trying to troll.

I know that the evo is a great car and far better than alot of cars that are on the road right now. But that being said. Don't you think that the car would be even better and wouldnt you be happier if had stepped up to the plate and brought over the real evo? Also what happens "if" comes out with a ralliart version with all the goodies? Or if the next model year bumps up the stock hp and add's the 6 speed and ayc/acd? I mean wouldnt that make you feel a little crapped on?

It seems to me just from looking from the outside that isn't treating you guys fair. They brought over a good car, but not THE car. The car has been out for couple of months now and still nothing from Ralliart.

I personally just don't think it's fair. Yes the evo is still a great car. It's just the principal of the thing to me I guess.

Sound familiar, Sub with the WRX. Sell it here for a few years, add some more options for a few more, change a few body parts and then finally bring the STI version over. Sounds like marketing to me. That's what all Auto Manufacturer's do. For Mitsu's first attempt in the US market, I think they scored.

Yea but in Subaru's case with the WRX there were no other cars on the market in that niche. They had to test the waters. Now they know there is a market so they went all out.

Based on that argument, one would think that Subaru tested the waters and both companies would know after that that there is a market. You could argue both directions that Mitsubishi saw the writing on the wall the same time Subaru did.

Yea, that's what I mean. Basically I think either underestimated how far Subaru would go with the STI or just plain wussed out. Probably a bit of both cause if they had the cohones they could have built a 300hp+ monster to shut down any attempts by Subaru to outdue them. Subaru took the initiative, and for that I respect them.

Basically the US model is similar to the JDM RS. How is that "unfair"?

I think he's talking about taking not mentioning ralliart parts since the auto show.

Anyways would you upload some pics of your car? I would love to see that purple

How is the new AYC?

OOoooo.....please upload pics of the purple Evo. Considering all pictures we've seen so far are comprised of the not so life-like purple. Nothing ever looks right in color samples....the blue for US looked washed out and crappy compared to what it looks like in the real world.

I'm still waiting for the car, I have to wait another week before getting it. Then there's a problem of getting a digicam since I no longer have my G2.... should not be a problem though but it might take some time.

It's basically a light shade of purple, closer to a metallic blue. The reason why I chose it was because the trim inside is also blue, which is quite different from all the other JDMs we get here which has black trim.

Europe and Japan also get the 55 liter (13 gallon) fuel tank. They however don't get the 110 lb intrusion beam in the front bumper, which is like driving around with Lucy Liu sitting on your front bumper. Only without the obvious benefit.

If I'm not mistaken...someone has already removed the supposed 110lb beam you speak of here in the US and guess what? It didn't weigh anywhere close to 110lbs. It was below 50lbs if I remember correctly and it might have even been somewhere around 20-30lbs.

Edit: I found the thread...it just so happens it became active yet again.

EVO weight loss results

Rear bumper beam: 17lb
Rront bumper beam: 13lbs
