The powertrain mops the floor with the 2.5L boxer, the chassis and suspension sophistication in the Evo overrides the STi. They went the easy route for USDM, bigger is easier but not always better.

That's NOT a HP reading at a certian RPM, that's MAX POWER from a Dyno RUN!
RPM means nothing there.

Both power curves were pretty close.
In Europe and Japan both the Evo and STi are 2 liter motors. I think that Subaru cheated by putting a 2.5 liter boxer motor in the STi they brought to the States.
