How do you guys like them? I know i have read some stuff on here how they are alittle laggy and dont produce the best topend because of their personal designed exhaust housing made to fit the stock manifold. I dunno but i think i can deal with that, i really like the price and quality from what i can tell on this kit. I'm not a full out drag racer or any type of racer so me not getting 100% max power wont affect me as much as it would some others. Also my Evo is 100% daily driver, 40+ miles daily. Ive been thinking very hard about doing a setup such as the ATP 3037S w/ .82 a/r, or the ATP gt35/40r with .63 a/r. Either one of those mated with some form of aftermarket exhaust manifold such as DNP or SSauto. I can get my kit custom tuned from the dyno i prefer to go to, but i was just wondering of opinions from those people with these kits. Also something that bothers me is how will the stock or aftermarket manifold be with supporting the extra weight of the new turbo since the o2 housing/downpipe will not have support brackets with the new setup? thoughts, opinions?

I would put a turbo kit on my daily driver because I love to play with my car and can and if worse comes to worse then I have a way to work with a family member i work with.

Buddy,
I don’t like lag and I hate lag and the more I learn about cars I realize how much lag sux and how much I hate it.
I will give you small points and the rest is on you (hope Alex Alex wont pop up here
)
1- GT35 will make your life hell if you are not going to drag your car (trust me)
You can buy it from ATP or who ever you like but be ready because I see soo many people on the forums either selling their EVOS or their kits after having it for few month (hard facts)
2- The 3071 especially the 3071 will spool like a mad man. I drove stock EVOs few days ago and the lag between my turbo and the 16G was close that I did not feel the difference. If you don’t believe me then you will see my dyno run at GA (dyno4mance)
3- The 3037 will put nice big smile on your face (top end) I did drive an EVO with it and it was a bit laggy but I don’t think it was tuned right either.
4- .82AR will lag in fact 3037S with 82AR is like GT3040R.
5- I don’t know why some go with GT35 on a small engine (it won’t work simple) except if you build your engine 9K RPM or 2.3 stroker
It’s your choice your thoughts and I hope the best for you. You don’t even have to go with ATP or AMS or anyone. Just sit back and think because if you make the wrong choice you will hate your car.
BTW ATP with 3037 and 3071 does not lag I don’t know where these rumors started from but I have seen dynos and they were fine. The stock manifold will flow great and every tuner knows that.

You might consider keeping your stock turbo and doing all the staged upgrades. It seems to me from what a lot of people post, people with stock turbos seem to be running faster or equal to those with upgraded turbos. You've already seen the potential of it with Curt Brown going 11.2s ( I know he's a madman), but there are tons of people doing high to mid 11s with it. That's pretty awesome for a "daily driver" Sorry if I hijacked your thread. =)
Well as of right now im leaning more toward the 3037S with .82 a/r, just because i like pure topend more than downlow power. I will be occasionaly dragging my car and will be the only form of racing i will be doing, but only for fun. Thats why the 35R crosses my mind as well. Other than just having fun, a few drag races throughout the year, and just driving around, my evo wont be used for anything else.
^^ you know, wouldn’t Mitsu who made our EVOs know better than us?? Wouldn’t they know what there stock turbo can do? So if the stock turbo can push 400WHP on race and 370 on pump why did they choose a different laggyer turbo for the FQ400?? Did you ask yourself why?? Because they believe that the stock turbo wont live for long after boosting to 26~ psi. Stock turbo will not see the 370WHP on pump until you have everything to support it. Bigger turbos that are 200 RPM laggier made that power with no mods. Stock turbo is amazing but we are abusing it (I want to see how it will last after 50K miles)
Just like the VW guys when boosting high on the Ko3 (it can do it) but it wont live

see now we are talking. You will lag but if you like top end then it's for you. Best luck and PM if you have installation questions.

This is also true, and i have thought about doing that, but I cant say i have been really following anyones staged or upgrade paths and just peicing together my own setup. Alchohol injection has been a thought a few times too, but i dont like the thought of having to switch maps when im gonna run it, having to refill all the time, etc. I just like to set stuff and leave it at that.

This is also why the stock boost control setup has built in tapper down to 16 psi at high RPM. The turbo is overspinning like mad to make 20 psi at 7,000 RPM. I acknowledge this and will replace the turbo with an upgrade kit when it goes south on me
