Do you guys think it will really be that bad to get a used one? With low milage? Im talking about like under 5k.
Or would it REALLY REALLY be worth it to go with a brand new one.. or like a 1k mile one.

if you get the vishnu stage 1 plus, i would say that you could consider the engine warranty history, maybe a dealer won't notice that you have HKS cams in the car and you can always remove the xede and they will never know you had that. IF, you don't get cams in the car, you wouldn't have anything to worry about.

i don't know why you are stressing over it bro, your motor isn't gonna fail with something small like vishnu stage 1. just make sure someone qualified installs your cams and gears and don't mess with your tune, only let professionals do that.

but, even with cams, your tranny/transfer case warranty should hold up just fine.

1. STi gearboxes have proven to be a problem time and time again.

2. Evos respond better to mods than STi's

U ever saw the "easy street wrx"....it has tons of mods including nitrous a dog box and if I'm not mistaken..a stroked engine.
The best it could do was a 10.5.......i mean this is a excellent time...but search for the mod list...

Those mods on an evo would yield much better times IMO.

Huh? Oh I forgot that the EVO has had no problems with transfer cases, clutches, syncros, etc. Subaru is still rated number #1 for reliability and I'll take that over cheerleaders who say I know a guy who knows a guy who has an STI that had clutch issues LOL. The fact is, both these cars have tranny issues and the EVO is certainly not better in that respect.

^^ I have to disagree.....
I run consistent 11's and have NEVER had a transfer case problem or gearbox problem and both are stock...never replaced syncros or anything.
I have to agree though that the stock mitsu clutch is a waste.

It's all to do with how you drive your car.

STi owners that I know(who make the same power as me) have experienced gearbox problems. Just going by what I know

every car is going to have problems...i mean the clutch issue is brought up like its a really big deal on the evo...but there are many ppl who have stock clutch and havent had any problems with it...and since u r going to mod ur car...theres no doubt that ull keep the stock clutch...in that case i'd suggest u get the evo...sti is expensive 2 mod...and as far as evo goes...its less expensive to mod...and it holds its rep on the streets. but then again...ur the one who is buying

Why do people still buy the EVO over the STI? Also is the STI or the EVO faster at stock? I've read it both ways.

Please give me any info you guys know
What you talking evo got 10X more problems? My evo has 56,XXX miles on it and i just had to change the clutch and do a lot of maintaince. What problems are you talking about? People launching @ 6,000rpms and frying the transfer case doesnt count. Evo is quicker but STI's have high end because of the bigger displacement and the 6speed.

Thats exactly what I was thinking .....

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=126848

It obvious from your sig you're very young and don't know a lot about both platforms. If you still live with your parents and don't have a full-time job and can't afford to pay for things if they break on you, NONE of these cars is for you. Do a search, this has be covered many many time already...... Don't believe what everyone posts in this thread as some of them are half truths .... STi and EVO are both awesome platforms ... period!
