05 Boost creeping Bad !!! anyone know?

Ok, ive posted once with no avail. Does anyone with a 05 have a aftermarket o2 and exhaust? I just installed mine and now i cant keep the car from boost creeping. Ive got profec2 and i still cant get it to stop. I even turned it off and ran the wg as my boost controller. It should only boost to 12.5 and hold, but it creeps up to 24 psi by redline. I get spark cut (aka fuel cut) and cant figure out why. I thought once i got a full exhaust i wouldnt get the bad boost spike i was getting. but i get the spike also, if my controller is up to high. Weird thing is my boost gauge reads a 20 psi hold and the controller warning is set at 30psi and i hit the warning limiter . Im so confused, can anyone help? Im starting to wonder if the boost controller is hooded up wrong. thanx in advance. billy

i have a dp, hf cat, and cat back and my car does spikes to 23-24 psi but goes
back down right away, i would remove your boost controller completely and reattached all the boost hose and see if the problem persist.

^Indeed. This more often than not sounds like a wastegate problem. It seems like it may not be actuating when needed. See if you can get around to looking at it in the near future and if need-be replace it.

^^^^ good point. the wg could be bad. Makes sence since the wg cant even hold its own weight. Ill try replacing that. anyone know of a way to test the wg on these?

uhm... this sounds like your boost controller is bad.... if your boost gauge is reading correctly what would lead you to believe that the wastegate is jacked? i think you should take that boost controller off and triple check all the vac lines to see if this thing is ****in' up yer setup.

honestly... with nothing else turbo back exhaust you will not run into boost problems. i think your boost controller is messing things up like it might be set up wrong or some of the settings might have gotten messed up and it's causing you to over boost and hit boost/fuel/spark cut or whatever it is your hitting.

or your boost gauge is a piece.... in any case check all that stuff... especially the vac lines part. haven't heard of a wg failing but if it did doesn't it fial in the open position?

wierd thing is about it all, like i said b4. I had the bc off and used just the wg. the stock wg should only give you 12-12.5 psi max all the way to redline. mine hits 12 psi then starts to climb to 23 psi by 6800 rpm. I do have a injen intake and uip kit also.

I would say that the most likely reason for your creep is that your exhaust is too free flowing and the wastegate can't vent enough exhaust gas to regulate the boost pressure. Most times this is caused by an aftermarket o2 housing, like you have. The same thing happens on my brothers Eclipse due to his o2 eliminator downpipe. The only real way to combat that boost creep and keep your mods is to port the wastegate opening.

Something is defintaly wrong. I have more mods then that with no problems at all. A full tbe with cat delete was my first mod. It didnt effect my boost at all.

When I put my injen intake and upper ic piping, it did mess with my boost. It lowered it. My guess is because the maf was reading more air coming in so the stock ecu comphensated with less boost. But I fixed that with a mbc.

Sound like the wg is messed up. This would be the first I have heard of on the evo 8's though.

ya, im stumped. Im going to go through everthing this weekend. Ill defiently check the wg. maybe i jammed it somehow while doing the 02 install. I recheck all my lines and the wg. If that doesnt fix it, then call me the first to have boost creep in a evo

Wow there are some retarded responses here. Never heard of a wg going bad. I would say improper profec solenoid install, wrong gain/set gain settings, usind stock lines with pills still in are my educated guesses without knowing more about your car.

oh wait... you installed an o2 housing? hmmm maybe you're blocking your wastegate... or when you installed it you bumped something... check THAT first!
