Front Lip Frustration.....

Gents,

What is the deal with these DO-Luck "style" front carbon lips? I have watched these threads, called the suppliers and still can't find one. In stock? Out of stock? bad fitment? waiting for 25 in April? Stopped making them because of bad construction? The list goes on and on.....

Who has them in stock NOW?

Who makes the best knock off?

Is it on par with the DO-LUCK?

I am I asking too much?

Someone let me know the answers to these questions!!!!!

Michael

You get what you paid for... If you want the highest quality dry carbon front lip, Do-Luck and Varis will fit the bill. But these are usually not in stock and takes up to 3-4 weeks upon ordering/shipping from Japan, sometimes up to months. Why? becauseit it takes a long time to make these lips, and for sure these company will not just stock whole bunch of bodykits and let it sit around for months. and another thing is, sports car market in Japan is dying.. not everyone drives evo there, so the demand is low.. therefore not enough parts to spare to begin with.

As for replicas, the profit margin is low therefore the quality definitely not up to par compare w/ the geniune ones. a lot of suppliers bailed because they feel they are not making enough profit to justify making these lips for what people willing to pay for.

Lets stick with the subject. I have money to buy these knock offs, or anything remotely close that'll be in between 200 to 300 +

can't find it.

every thread I goto, it's always 1000 pages long, people asking where it is, is it still going on, etc.

Thanks for the info. I do understand how tough it can be to supply this type of product. Maybe it's because of how some of these places retail this product thats got me bugged. In any case I do not need the actual Do-luck lip and especially at 600-700 dollars. I would take a knock off that was priced in the 300-400 range. I would NOT expect do-luck quality at that price. Just someone that would stand by the product, have it in stock and supply it to me in a resonable time. I will try the above suggestion. Thanks again.

I got one of the first Gruppe-S replica "DO" stlye lips, carbon is not the best I've seen but the fitment is excellent. It is a front lip and it will eventually get a little messed up. Overall, I am VERY happy with the lip! Thanks CAL!

Spoke to Group-S. They currently do not have stock or a supplier.

u know, why is everything on evo about 30% more expensive than other car items?

you could spend the same amout of time, same amount of Carbon Fiber and resin mix, and same amount of time finishing it,

you'll pay $600 for evo lip and you pay $300 for a civic lip or any other import. Even WRX's parts are cheaper than evo's.

I've studied Industrial Design and know fairely well about the manufacturing process. Just so freaking frustrating to see these sorta BS marketing scheme.

Just because it's Evo lip, you pay more. it's not like they spend a lot more money on advertising it.

There is supply and demand, i'm sure civic crap sells a lot more, or are they?

....

I've just talked to C in my town, he knows a CF manufacturer in ROK, that could manufacture things and import it here. At 80% less before imported, with import costs and advertising, plus net income taken out, you could still get them for 30 to 40% cheaper than what Do - Luck sells it for.

If this doesn't go through, I might have to bust out my shop tools and do a home made CF kit for me. It'll take time, but hell, i could make it cheaper with almost the same quality...

If that doesn't work, I'll just sneak into GATECH facility and use their machines.

because......

People will pay for the JDM deal. These suppliers will stop asking for 499.95 for Ralliart mirrors when people stop paying for them-

yeah and the target market is different....evos are much more expensive than civics, so in general, evo owners will pay more for aftermarket parts because either they have the money, or they will pay an extra two hundred dollars to get the best part available
