You must not like Volvo either. I strongly suggest you go test drive a new Volvo S60R before you buy anything! The car is amazing for it's size. It had electronic ride control, 3 settings, that make the car a cushy cruiser or a corner carver. The outside looks really good, and the inside is awesome. The guages are styled like a watch with a sweet looking blue lighting. The seats are really comfy, and pretty darn supportive. Then there's the power, it has 300hp and a 6-speed. It runs low 5 second 0-60 and high 13's in the 1/4 mile. It pulls like .89G's in the turns and is very agile for a midsize car. You can get one for about 37grand base and that is fully loaded already. Then you can get 18" rims and a body kit plus an automatic for about 41grand. Very CLASSY and more mature than an Evo with most of the performance with about the same gas mileage!

Currently I'm looking at used M3 or used AMG series mercedes anyone have any other ideas for a budget of 45k or under? (I don't like audi/VW)
I'm in your shoe too, I looking in to the 06 BMW330 or the 06 Lexus IS350

I looked at the lotus no way for a daily driver the M3 is nice but kinda small... . I never even thought about the volvo but now that you mention it ill check it out. (Mr.MR) I also did look at a couple M5's but even used they are still a little out of my range unless I get one with high miles thats 5+ years old which I don't want do do really.

I looked again at the legacy GT and almost bought one but found that you CANT put an aftermarket deck it and no one makes an adaptor kit for them yet only way to do it is put it in the glovebox which I really dont' want to do, and I'm not giving up my stereo.

So yea ill check Volvo out im sure insurance will be better on that too thats the other thing Evo owners are getting raped in the *** by insurance companies cause too many loser's keep wrecking them (damn teenagers who's parents buy them have been a huge insurance problem as well as adults who still haven't learned how to control their car)

IS300 I did look at the lexus and the BMW330 but both just lacked ***** they are well over 14 seconds in the 1/4 (I think the lexus is in the 15's) and their 0-60 is slower than the Subaru legacy (very sad) nice comfort but I don't want to sacrifice that much performance.

Thanks again for the ideas

step 1: get 45k
step 2: go to vegas
step 3: double money
step 4: buy noble m12

may have to repeat steps 1-3 as needed.

haha.. hey I almost gave into this whole "proffesional" car thing too. If you want to be a pawn of society and make them feel better about you because you dont drive a super aggressive street legal rally car. Then by all means. I think you give me more thought to paying off the evo and then buying a daily driver. With all sincerity, most likely.. no new car is ever going to give you the driving experience that you have now. Your life and daily commute will be as exciting as plain oatmeal.

anyone ever consider the new SRT-8 line??? Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Charger and Dodge Magnum. Jeep has 415HP and the two Dodge models have 425HP and they all can do 0-60 in under 5 seconds.

yeah but they're all Dodge products + they are heavy & unreliable. the guy drives an EVO 7!! why would he want to go backwards. also 0-60 is nowhere near as impressive as 0-160, or 0-200.

The whole professional thng is meaningles too me. I'm 50 and just bought an Evo. Why? Because I like the way it drives. I know, lot's guys my age think the Evo is 'juvenile' Whatever that means. It's irrelevant too me. FWIW, I had an E36 M3 for awhile and didn't feel one ounce more 'professional'.

I can see wanting to own a different car. I've had a variety of sports cars over the years and do like variety. Personally, if I had owned an Evo for awhile and wanted to try something else it would probably be a Z06 or C6 Corvette, although I would also look at a new Boxster S and used 993/996's.

Jim
