4g64 Block a Direct Drop in for a 5g Mirage?

Well I've ran through about 5 pages of searches here looking for the answer. I haven't gotten a forsure on it but I was wondering if you guys know. I want to know if a 4g64 block will drop right into a 5g (97-01) Mirage and have the correct orintation needed to run a full on custom AWD setup? I read that RnR Racing dropped a 4g64 into their project Evo 8 and from my understanding the Evo 8 and the 5g Mirage have the same engine orintation (sp???). So please tell me I'm thinking right.

P.S. If a 4g64 block will bolt up is there any specific years/cars/models that will bolt and some that won't? All useing a AWD tranny from TRE or another DSM tranny building place.

The reason I don't want a 4g63 block is one the 4g64 is a 2.4L block which is much easier to grab power out of. Second from what I read the older 4g63 blocks are 180 degrees reversed from the 5g Mirage setup so new mounts would have to be made.. and I would rather have a direct drop and 2.4L of fun.

Well after digging for a long time I found that website page that tells me which 4g64 will drop in. Just has to be a newer block out of anyone of those cars.

you'd actually be bettter off with the evo motor, waay more parts and support for it and the 4g64. with the amount of $$$ for all that just do a 4g63 stroker

Even RnR Motorsports went with a 4g64 block. Its nothing more then a stretched 4g63 from what I've read. And it seems the way to go to have a good useable rpm range and still get some super high hp numbers.

I hope you are planning to tune the chassis around that engine, I don't think that weak unibody could handle that much power as it is stock. I'll be doing a swap soon, but I'll be going with a built 2.4 mivec.....it's just WAY easier. Later on (when I have a real job) I'll be building a E 6.5 TME replica, and I plan on MAJOR chassis reinforcement on that POS mirage frame.

The chassis is plenty strong . the two door body is much more stiff than a four door. take it from someone who has one. I have also driven both the evo1 and evo8. I would choose the evo1 hands down for a daily driver. More fun than the evo8 hands down. Reducing the weight of this drivetrain increases the fun factor tremendously.

My 2500lb 500whp awd car is more fun than you could ever imagine. Good luck with your project.
