Changes...(envy)
Wow ive noticed ever since I put my down payment on the EVO i have had EVERYONE trying to all the sudden mod the hell out of their cars and try to "beat me" or something. Its so childish how everyone feels they have to be better than everyone else and will do anything to get it. I just had my best friend tell me he is putting a LS engine in his CRX and turboing it so he will "beat me" and I told him I wont be drag racing anyone in the EVO. The whole point of getting a EVO is for actually driving, not going in a straight line while mashing the gas... i just dont see the point in that. So basically I just find it childish how buying a $30k sports car can make people change their entire cars to make them be "better" than the other by adding HP. IMO the beauty of the EVO is not at all in the HP or the 1/4 times or any of that bullsh!t, its in the handling and all around performance of the car. Sorry for the long post I just had to vent really bad.
Of course your friends are going to be envious... and probably the only way they will make themselves feel better is to gut that tin can called the CRX and mod the hell out of it to hopefully be faster/quicker than your badass EVO.
1/4 times are not the devil!!!
1/4 times are not the devil!!!
to me 0-60 and 1/4 mile just tell me how fast i can get out of the way when on the interstate
seriously though...the acceleration of the car does not mean squat to me...but that .97g skid pad and 70mph solomn(i can't spell and i know it) mean something to me....how well this car turns and hold its line on the street during "spirited driving" and on the track...thats whats important to me
0-60 and 1/4 mile r nice to know and a way to compare but on a car like the Evo these #'s should not be what makes u choose the car...there r better cars for that type of stuff

well im am glad to hear an EVO owner say that! those cars are precious! and they brought them over for people like you!
who know the FULL capabilities of it. tell him to race you in anything other than a straigt line...how bout around turns? how about off road? oh wait...a CRX cant handle that lol!
no car compares the the EVO..juss for that reason.. be proud to have a superior car!

there are a lot of reasons to modify this car that have NOTHING to do with one-upping another EVO owner! It may have a lot to do with beating a certain 300hp compeditor though!I for one always like to have more HP than grip
It makes for a fun ajustable adaptable car and with it capible of such stunning handling the power is gonna' have to go up. Plus my house is over 7000ft. up so I'm taking about a 20% hp hit as soon as I get it home!

tell your friends to take you on a circuit course and see where they end up.
i think, IMO, the EVO is great for both situations. screw your friends for trying to one- up you. they are just jealous.

19lbs of boost here is like about 15 or 16 lbs at sea level. Also cooling is not as good (brakes, engine etc.), less air resistance though!

Thanks for the support... but yes again I feel it is waaaaaay more sweet to able to say you own an EVO compared to saying you own a CRX. Regardless if it runs 12 seconds or whatever. Look at a CRX It just looks like a tin can on wheels… granted most cars that stopped production in 1991(I think) don’t look like ferarris. But that’s exactly the point I am making in that you get some props on the street when you say you own an EVO instead of a Honda, regardless of 1/4 times(even though an EVO will pretty much waste any Honda out there, especially since im modding mine). Idk this is all just in my opinion, I have owned a Civic for a year so don’t think I am just ripping on Honda without knowing anything about Honda.
FOR A CRX TO RUN 12's, it needs high maintenience therefore its not practical for the streets. On the other hand, Having an evo running 12 sec on the streets i smore reliable.
Gettin mine soon too. I will be an X vtec owner!

For those that think this car is one-dimensional, or think that this car should only focus on a single dimension, such as auto-x only, this car is too multifaceted to try and peg it into a single hole!!!!!!
PS. 1/4 times are NOT the devil!

Superior handling characteristics are obviously the primary strong-point of the Evo, but acceleration is most definitely an important aspect as well. Accelerating out of a corner and hence maintaining a higher speed down the straights is where you make all your time. Handling and acceration just tie nicely together and one without the other (IMO) isn't even half as fun.
